How Many Days Past Ovulation for a Positive?

Happy Friday all!

My question, essentially, is the above - how many days past ovulation before you get a positive test?

I ovulated 2 weeks ago today, insemination the afternoon before (two weeks ago yesterday - home insemination with known donor). Negative pregnancy test this morning.

Unusual symptoms for me preceding a period (even with my irregular cycle) - ridiculously tired and just feeling 'worn out'; terrible nausea yesterday (couldn't face food at all until the evening when I had a couple of slices of bread and butter - I don't u 'do' nausea at all, it's something I've been fortunate to not suffer with really - slightly better today, but still 'off' food), discomfort in my lower right abdomen - not painful as such, but a bit of an ache and occasional sharper pain; an upset stomach over the past couple of days.

Now, I'm aware this is most likely 'wishful thinking' at play, but is it still possible a positive test is on the way next week, even though it's negative 2 weeks after ovulation?

I'm away Monday to Friday next week, so was thinking of testing again next weekend if my period hadn't started...

Anyone else had a negative test two weeks after ovulation and then success?

sorry this is such a miserable time. Its horrible to spend all you waking moments hoping and symptom spotting. I think most modern tests would show up conception by now. You might still be lucky, but don't get your hopes up. It isn't a definite no until your period starts, really.

The earliest I have ever had a +is very slight line at 8dpo. .
The latest was a fortnight late for my period!!
You aren't out just yet!!

Yeah, Copper, I'm not getting my hopes up at all - I've approached the whole thing with a 'it won't happen for me this straightforwardly', so I'd be gobsmacked if I actually was pregnant anyway!

Mrscropley, positive it's not completely over and done with yet, even if I refuse to believe it's actually a possibility.

I always said I wouldn't look for symptoms that didn't exist, but what do you know, here I am, trying desperately hard not to...

Probably just a virus for the nausea and tiredness, and impeccable timing!

I have 3 children. With 2 of them I got a bfp by 14dpo or earlier but with my middle child I didn't get a bfp until a week after af was due at 21dpo. That week drove me mad because I didn't get af but I kept getting bfn pregnancy tests. I think implantation took place later than usual which would account for the delay in getting a bfp. Incidentally she was also born a week overdue. Forget being late for your own funeral my dd was late for her own conception :D:D

I'm sure it must've been frustrating at the time Poptart, but I love your comment that your daughter was late for her own conception.

I think I'll just wait and do another test next weekend if I don't get my period before then.

I was religiously testing right up and until my period thought I was out! Didn't test again till 3 days after af was due and got a bfp ! Am due in 3 weeks! Good luck!!
