Had a miscarriage last week at 9 weeks. Should i wait for my period before starting to try again, or should we just get going?

I'm really sorry for your loss. It's completely up to you. They used to advise that you wait a few months, but now think that that advice is outdated and it makes no difference (this is according to the the consultant I saw for recurrent miscarriage). The cycle after miscarriage is often a bit irregular (I've found each time that I've ovulated later than usual and mine have all been earlier than yours) so unless you track your ovulation it would be a bit tricky to date a new pregnancy, so that's a reason to wait but you may not find it a very compelling one! Some people don't feel ready to TTC immediately, others do. Good luck and I hope your successful pregnancy comes as soon as you want it.

@Bec1302 - so sorry for your loss - I have had the same though mine was a MMC at 9+3 and baby had died just after 6 weeks (even though we saw a heartbeat then). Going in for medical management in 45 mins and all day saturday - dreading it.

So I have same question. From what I've read (though take prof advice), you need to wait until you have a negative preg test before trying again as your body is likely to give you a positive test for a while after MC. That's only though so you can be sure you are actually pregnant again if it happens. I've also read that there is good evidence that couples are more fertile within 6 months of MC.

So I think you need to make sure you are physically (and more importantly, emotionally) ready then just go for it.

Wishing you all the love and luck in the world xx
