Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Can anyone sprinkle me with some wisdom before I just give up?!

So I thought I was about 10DPO today, as I got a clear positive on my ovulation tests. However I took another ovulation test this morning and it has come out as a clear positive result again?! What the hell?! I have PCOS so I understand that my ovulation timing may be different to others, but I know you're not supposed to ovulate twice in 10/11 days!!

I suppose I'm way out this month, fed up!!

Morning Meadoula

Don't give up! The positive test on an ovulation test only recognises a surge in hormones, but this doesn't mean you have actually ovulated. From what I understand, the body sometimes attempts ovulation but fails (all very normal) so will try again shortly after.

I used those sticks religiously to get pregnant with my son and I often got two positive results a few days apart which confused me at the time. But I just made sure with DTD as soon as we got a positive and every other day (or every day) after that for about five/six days.

Have you seen anyone about your PCOS? I don't know anything about the condition but I think I've heard of drugs to help you ovulate when you are trying to get pregnant? Others on here will know.

xx

Bloody OPKs! So confusing when your ovaries do wacky things.

We were trying for ages for our second. Ended up seeing a fertility specialist, who told us to have sex every second day until my period arrived. Didn't think much of his advice at the time, but he was right and we did get knocked up after 5mo of trying this way. Not doing OPKs was a nice break too, I have to admit.

Good luck!
