Ttc after mini pill

Hi, first time posting. I took my last pop on 24/7/17 to ttc. I haven't had any bleeding since stopping the pill and had full heavy boobs for a few days about 2 weeks ago. They are a little tender now but I don't have any other symptoms. I already have 3 children from a previous relationship but now we are trying for our first baby together. I was expecting to bleed a few days after stopping the pop so I don't know what to think now. Has anyone any experience of ttc after the mini pill? Thanks

Took me 50 days to get my first bleed stopping the mini pill. My cycles have been horrendous ever since a year ago. 😕

I fell pregnant on cycle 3 but unfortunately miscarried at 10 weeks. Many many more people have lots of success stories however, I'm probably just unlucky.

Good luck!!

Hi armygirl, unfortunately it can take our bodies many months (or more if you're really unlucky) to readjust after the synthetic hormones from the pill or mini pill. So don't worry that you haven't had a period yet, it's quite normal.

That's not to say it isn't frustrating, it really is. I'm right there with you, as are many others Flowers

mousegirl I'm a sexual health nurse and give the pill out regularly and we always advise that fertility returns immediately after 12 hours of a pop!! I wish I'd never started taking it in the first place, it's so frustrating! I hope my period comes soon. And really sorry about your miscarriage too!

Thank you mctufty

armygirl interesting you say that - I was also told my fertility would be back within a month. No one warned me it could take so long, I would have come off far sooner if they had Sad

Me too mctufty

I was on Cerezette before ttc DD. I also didn't bleed for ages (can't remember exactly how long, sorry). My cycle got back to normal after about 3 months, and we conceived after 16 months.

Interestingly, one of the sexual health nurses told me that it would take 2-3 months for my cycle to get back to normal, and she was roughly right - perhaps that's normal, but a few are fertile much more quickly.

The sore breasts sounds horribly familiar too....

Your fertility does return quite soon after, however your cycles probably won't. And of course in order to get pregnant you need your cycles to be the correct length and everything to be balanced. If you've been taking a synthetic hormone for a long time I suppose it's only common sense that things might take a little longer. Of course, I'm sure we all are thinking now, devils pill. I am NEVER ever taking it again. EVER. 13 yrs of my life potentially messing up my chances of being a mum. It's hard.

I took the mini pill for a while many years ago, it made me very depressed so I stopped taking it. DS was conceived within a week.

Armygirl · 29/08/2017 09:21

Yeah I do feel like that MouseLove if I do end up having a baby I won't be going back on the pill afterwards that's for sure! I thought I had a very faint positive about 4 days ago but I tested using Tesco brand yesterday and it was negative.

raisinbrain that's good to know it can happen straight away!!

It took me 3 weeks to get a period when first coming off the mini pill and 4 weeks this time.

I think when ttc my daughter I had a bleed then about 3 weeks later a 'proper' period and then conceived the next month. So I guess it took one cycle for me to become fertile.

So it doesn't affect everyone, finger so crossed you'll be ok

Thank you wellthen

I stopped mini pill in August and it took 8 weeks before I had first period. But once cycle one came I was lucky to get straight into a set pattern.
But best mate stopped exact same pill and her first period arrived less than a week later.
Think sadly there is no set rule.

I stopped cerazette 26 June and still waiting for a period it's driving me crazy :(
