Preparing to TTC

My fiancé and I have decided that I will come off the pill at the end of November, so I have a couple of months to prepare. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on things I can start doing now?

We aren't necessarily actively going to TTC but won't be preventing any longer but I'd like to be fully prepared if I do conceive within a couple of months of stopping contraception. I do appreciate that my cycles may take a while to get back to normal though.

Any tips would be appreciated or if anyone else is in a similar position, join in :)

I'm in a similar position! We are going to start to try for baby no 2 in December (have an 8 month old right now!)

Are you sure you want to TTC before your marriage?! I got pregnant 4 months before our wedding and it was a nightmare. I had to have the dress readjusted and look bloated in all my pics! I also couldn't drink and didn't feel like dancing.

I love my boy but kind of wish I hadn't been in such a hurry and had just waited a few more months!

Forgot to say, I've bought just general well woman/well man vitamins in preparation! Will buy cheap preg tests and ovulation sticks nearer the time

Folic acid 3 months before ttc, vit d and b3 (or vit b-complex)

Thanks both. Sorry, starter this thread then have been away!

I know what you're saying babydreaming but I think I want to give my body chance to get back to normal and know my cycles. I've been on the pill for years so don't know how long it will take. Plus I'm mid-thirties already so a bit anxious that I'll miss my chance. That may be completely irrational though.

Good to see you've got your partner on the wellman :) my partner already takes a multivitamin, is there anything in particular recommended for men do you know?

Fair enough, if you feel like it's the right timing then fingers crossed for you! Just be prepared that it might happen sooner than you think :) I also thought it would take a few months and we weren't properly trying and it happened straight away. You can get some lovely maternity wedding dresses now though!

I think for men it's anything containing zinc and selenium.

Good luck!

Folic acid and vit d. Nothing else needed at this stage until you start tracking your cycles off the pill. Good luck!!

Ooh I'll join you. I'm planning to come off my pill at the end of September but going to use alternative methods of contraception until December/January as we went away to a destination with zika and have to wait 6 months. I have been on the pill for 17 years!!!Confused so have no idea what my cycles will be like! My periods were very irregular before the pill but I was a teenager then so who knows!

I have bought some special pre conception vitamins although I haven't started taking them yet. I am currently on well woman too but will switch as soon as I come off the pill as apparently they don't have enough folic acid in them and also there is something about not taking too much vitamin A when TTC/pregnant.
