Do pregnancy tests go out of date?

Just that really!

I have a Boots own brand and it says 2015-02 on the package but not sure if that's when it went out of date or when it was made

Will add a photo of the test case but does anyone know?

when did you buy it? If it was before the date on the packet I would think that it was out of date. if it was after the date on the packet, I would still just think it was out of date because it'd been over 2 years. Paranoia would cause me to do a new one.

Then again, if the control strip works, doesn't that mean it's still ok?

I can't remember we're not trying - I'm late but I did have an LLETZ (post abnormal smear) this week. Apparently it can bugger up periods but I just wanted to be sure and don't want to worry myself unnecessarily!

Might just save it til tomorrow and get a new one, I wouldn't trust anything that's not FMU anyway

I really wish I could remember when I bought it - would have sworn it was before then but to be honest I'm guessing I wouldn't believe it anyway so may as well buy new I guess

I saved a spare from my first pregnancy and got a BFP from it with my second pregnancy 3 years later despite it being apparently 18 months out of date. However...I did make DH run out to buy another one just to double check (also a BFP!) I think it's unlikely it would give you a false positive if it was out of date. If it was negative though I would be checking again with an in-date one too 🤷🏻‍♀️

So to sum up. I would use it...but then I probably wouldn't trust the result and go out and buy a new one anyway 🙈
