Timing sex around ovulation

We're TTC and I'm starting to get really confused by all the conflicting advice out there re timing DTD for maximum chances.

For instance, many articles suggest sex leading up to ovulation offers the best chance of conceiving. Ovia seems to realign the FW once ovulation is plugged in.

This seems to slightly contradict the sperm meets egg plan which suggests sex everyday for three days once the OPK is positive, skip a day and then once more for luck.

I'm confused - how many days after ov are still fertile? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

If you do smep you will be covered, it is hard to time ovulation entirely accurately so best to cover the window as thoroughly as you can. We were told two days or one day before ov is best. Unlikely to conceive after ovulation as eggs are typically only viable for 10-12 hours and sperm takes nearly that long to go through capacitation.

I think you can only get pregnant in the 24 hours after ovulation because the egg only survives for a day. I remember reading that you can sometimes release a second egg so you should have sex on the second day too.

Sperm survives for up to 5 days though so you should be having sex in the run up to ovulation too.

We went for twice a day every day from end of period to a few days past ovulation. Twice got pregnant in the first month and once in the second.

Good luck!

Every other day of your cycle and then once a positive every day for 3 days. Basically once you get a positive you can ovulate between 12-36 hours later. Which is why it's recommended to keep going. Of course OPK only detect a surge and not actual ovulation. You can confirm that by temping.
