Hi all,
This is my first time posting, but I just wanted to hear stories from those of you who have been in a similar position.
I'm 38 with a 2yr old and we've been ttc #2 for about 6 months (had Mirena coil removed back in feb). I know 6 months isn't long in the grand scheme of things, but worried about time getting on. I already know it's going to be harder because of age.
Any of you ladies in a similar position?
Xxx

Hi, I'm 34 and have a one year old dd and we've decided we should crack on ttc no 2. Dd1 took 16 months so I hope we get lucky sooner this time. I'm still breastfeeding dd and haven't yet had my periods return although I did have signs of ovulation on Sunday and we dtd last night. Good luck!

Efferlunt · 16/08/2017 21:52

I'm 40, my other two were at 34 and 32 so yes it need take longer to conceive about 8 months I think.

UnicornSparkledust · 17/08/2017 08:02

Hi Beansprout and Effer, thanks for replying.
Yeah I know in my head it will probably take a while, I'm just frustrated at the fact and I worry about having missed the boat. We weren't really actively trying with dd1 and I wasn't paying any attention to the process. We're 3yrs down the line now and this time round I feel like it's all I think about. I'm trying not to obsess about it, but it's so hard not to. I'm about 10dpo at the moment and had a bfn this morning, which isn't entirely surprising given its early to test. I'll have to try and make myself wait a couple of days!!!
Good luck to you Beanspout!
Effer, are you ttc at the moment?
Xx

It's so hard not to stress, I felt like it was taking over my life when ttc my dd, I was getting so down and never believed it would happen.. but it did! So must try and keep positive. I really hope it happens quick this time as I don't think I've got the energy to dtd like we had to before!
Good luck and keep us posted!

UnicornSparkledust · 17/08/2017 21:31

Thanks Beansprout.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too. I know what you mean about having less energy!!! Grin

I'm 38 in a month and ttc number 3. Last ditch attempt, otherwise I need a hysterectomy due to endometriosis and adenomyosis 😕

Giving it 9 months to get pregnant, conceived other children at 30 and 33, took 6 months and 1 month respectively. Used clear blue ovulation monitor and pre-seed both times.

Following for updates... Good luck all!

MaryShelley1818 · 18/08/2017 06:55

I started ttc number 1 at age 38.
I'm now 39 and 23wks pregnant, it took us about 4.5mths which was 6 cycles.

UnicornSparkledust · 18/08/2017 08:52

Hi ladies, hope everyone is ok this morning.
Greggs, really hope it works out for you. I've also been using the CB monitor, as well as normal dip ov sticks. There's no way we can dtd every couple of days which they recommend sinners to make every time count! Keep us updated on how you're doing.
Mary, congratulations!! That really gives me hope. I think I just need to try and chill out about it all a bit!

Af turned up for me today, bit gutted that we didn't get lucky from dtd the other day, but pleased my periods are finally back and we can crack on

UnicornSparkledust · 22/08/2017 21:34

Hey Beansprout, it's good news that your periods are back at least! Hopefully you'll get a sticky bean soon.
Well, I got a bfp (tested 2 days ago AF was due yesterday). I'm really happy but cautious at the same time if that makes sense. Such early days.
I tried acupuncture for the first time this cycle as I'd heard a lot about it for fertility support, no idea if it assisted or not, but it certainly helped me feel a bit less stressed (which has been a problem for me recently with one thing and another), so it couldn't have done any harm.
Good luck and keep us posted too

Amazing news Unicorn! Congratulations! Fingers crossed all goes well for you. I swear by acupuncture, I had three months of it when ttc my daughter and I'm convinced it helped, will definitely try it again if we struggle this time round

fififa · 23/08/2017 16:28

Congrats Unicorn! A few friends of mine also got pregnant at advanced maternal age. And one lady did acupuncture before and during her cycling (she was undergoing IVF PGS NGS), and got her BFP. Now I am sure that it really works. x

RachelP247 · 23/08/2017 16:34

I'm 39 and currently 27 weeks pregnant... wasn't even trying (due to having had a miscarriage in January).. but I was taking a herbal supplment called Agnus Castus for periods, cramping, bloating etc and it is meant to help with helping the body be more fertile so aids conception... have a read up about it. Good luck xx

Bubble04 · 23/08/2017 16:55

I've heard Angus cast is is amazing! Smile

I'm 37 and have 2 DC's, 9 and 11.
We weren't ttc, but we're a bit careless, and it made us realise we'd actually really like another baby. Leaving this month to fate, but properly ttc next cycle. Cautiously excited! X

GreggsSausageRolls · 24/08/2017 19:13

Congrats Unicorn!!

UnicornSparkledust · 24/08/2017 20:15

Thanks everyone!!
I think we're going to go for an early preg scan, just to give us peace of mind. We did the same last time!
I'm also considering carrying on with acupuncture sessions throughout, as I've heard it's good for all the way through. All evidence says it certainly doesn't do any harm anyway! Xx

GreggsSausageRolls · 06/09/2017 21:11

@UnicornSparkledust how was your scan?

UnicornSparkledust · 07/09/2017 08:50

@GreggsSausageRolls - I've got the scan the weekend after next, I'll be 7+5 then. Bit anxious about it all as had my HCG levels checked and they were quite low, although still in the enormous range of 'normal' Had serial tests, first set increased but didn't double in the 48hrs, second set doubled over 72hrs. I was going to have a scan this weekend, but the doc advised pushing it back until over 7 weeks to stand a better chance of seeing something, especially as I have no pain or bleeding. I don't really have any pregnancy symptoms at all, apart from the occasional feeling of mild nausea, but that could be nerves. To be fair I didn't really have much in the way of anything when I was pregnant with my dd. I'll keep you updated.
How are you doing?

OP posts:
GreggsSausageRolls · 14/09/2017 20:44

Any updates from my fellow 38ers?! Grin

UnicornSparkledust · 04/10/2017 11:42

So, thought I would update on what's happened.
Unfortunately this time has not worked out. I had 2 scans which confirmed that things weren't going well. Probably blighted ovum. Looks like everything stopped at 5 weeks. Absolutely devastated, but I think I've known for a while that this was not to be. Doesn't make it any better though. I opted for medical management as was almost 10weeks and my body had yet to realise that something was wrong and I couldn't go on not knowing when it was going to happen. That was last Friday and am still going through it, but I'm hoping it'll all be done soon.
Lots of tears have been shed, but we want to start ttc again as soon as possible. So I will definitely try the acupuncture again and I might look into the Angus Castus which someone mentioned on here.
How is everyone doing? Hope all is well with you all.
Xx
