Morning all ☺

Just looking for some advice as above. Been trying now for 8 months. I know on average this is still within reasonable expectation but every little helps right?

Suggestions and any lovely stories of them helping would be appriciated. Thank youuu

What are you taking at the moment, just Vit D and Folic Acid? I'm not taking any vits to aid conception yet, but I'm on Wilkos pregnancy care (which contains the two main ones). Is your DP/H taking anything?

LouLouB1987 · 15/08/2017 13:55

Hi @EastDulwichWife at the moment just folic acid and a multivit, and only for a month. I'll get some vitD to go with! He's not taking anything at the moment - any recommendations for him too? Thank you x

I know NHS guidance is folic acid and vit d only but my surgery nurse said to take prenatal or pregnancy vitamin. I'm taking Seven Seas Trying For A Baby. Very small (like contraceptive pill) and have days on the foil so you can keep track.

Was on Pregnacare and they made me feel sick and gave me reflux, plus huge to swallow. Seven Seas no side effects so far for me. Plus much cheaper.

What's in your multivitamin? I would advise ONLY folic acid and vit d unless you have a known deficiency - a generic multivitamin could have the wrong things in it for TTC. If you have regular cycles and ovulate then just keep at it.

Hi LouLou. Just wanted to let you know my story. I was about 38 when we started ttc and the crazy thing is i was religiously taking folic acid every day and yet i fell pregnant when i stopped taking it! I had had 2 mc's and had given up as i was 40 then it happened and when i found out i was already 3 months into the pregnancy i then started taking folic acid again! I'm now taking Seven Seas Trying for a Baby which has folic acid, iron and vit B6, B12 and D. I'm 45 though so don't think it's likely to happen but you never know! Good luck to you xx

I just take tescos own, conception...pre and postnatal/breastfeeding vits. They are about 3.30 and often on 3 for 2. Which is great considering I've been having them for 30months 😅 xx

LouLouB1987 · 15/08/2017 18:52

Thank you every one for your advice 😊 sounds like folic acid and vitD will work for me. I get a pretty balanced diet anyway, perhaps lacking in vitC if anything! Fingers crossed and we'll carry on enjoying the trying ❤ xx

Sorry to hijack - I've been taking zinc as I've read that is good for TTC, along with folic acid (and magnesium for something unrelated to TTC) but never realised that vitamins might actually be harming the TTC efforts?

chevrechevre · 15/08/2017 21:38

Pointe standard multivitamins are to be avoided as they tend to contain vitamin A, which you can't take during pregnancy. NHS info here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/vitamins-minerals-supplements-pregnant.aspx

TTC and pregnancy vitamins don't contain vitamin A. My TTC vitamins contain zinc.
