Painful, swollen, lumpy left breast

Hi,

AF is due Monday, I normally get tender breasts the week before but normally they are both equally tender. Since yesterday they have both been a little tender at the sides as normal, but today my left breast is quite painful with shooting pains and noticably bigger than the right. Theres a definate large painful lump above my nipple when I examine the breast and I can't decide if theres a lump underneath the nipple but its very sore to touch. It is slightly veiny but realistically no more than normal for me premenstrually.

After 15 months of symptom spotting this is a new one, not sure if it could be an early pg sign but also concerned it could be something sinister. Realistically I'm not going to get a Drs appointment before Monday anyway so I suppose I will have to see what happens over the weekend.

Not to worry about the lump unless it's still there in a week or two. I sometimes get like slightly fibrous tissue before af...

Obviously get it checked if you would find it reassuring...

Thanks, DH has just come home and agrees that left my left breast is definately larger than right and also confirms the lump. He is keen for me to get Drs appointment ASAP. I'm still hoping it's an early sign of pregnancy, but after all these months not getting too hopeful yet.

So after the pain keeping me awake last night, today my breast is much less painful and swollen. I think the lump is smaller but DH is not convinced. I've now got veins around my nipple too (still only on the left) so still holding out hope on the outside chance its pg related.

Just an update as hate it when people don't. It isn't looking like a pregnancy sign. AFs not shown up yet, but BFN and Dr thinks that the lump is abnormal posibly cancer and has refered me to a specialist. [sad

Oh pinkdonkey, sorry to hear this SadFlowers x

Sorry to hear that too!! So I guess it has remained... and not gone away?

Lots of lumps prove to be nothing. So I really hope that is the case with you.

Glad you got it checked in the end!

I had one that suddenly appeared and the GP laughed me out the door (they always manage to make me feel like a complete idiot despite being highly educated and reasonably erudite!). It did go down a few days after that though... so I guess he was right (despite being an asshole).

I think it's got smaller but DH doesn't. My GP took it very seriously, he said that it doesn't feel like a cyst but that he's never felt breast cancer so can't tell me if it feels like that. I've known quite a few people who have had lumps investigated and its been fine but also quite a few who have had breast cancer. I'm trying to stay calm, but my imagination keeps running away with me. I suppose it highlights the importance of not being too focused on any breast changes being pregnancy related.
