Trying to Conceive post ectopic pregnancy

I had a roller coaster of finding out I was pregnant and then within 3 days an early scan and emergency surgery. I had an ectopic pregnancy, I was roughly 12 weeks and they removed my left tube.
Following surgery I've been given different opinions from doctors. I was initially told to wait 2 cycles/3 months then try again, then another doctor said whenever you're ready and another said one cycle so you have a date to work from then you're ok.
Has anyone else had this? I'm interested to know if people did try before the 3 months, or maybe not try but not prevent either. I didn't have the injection so it's not a risk in that sense.
Thanks in advance
Smile

You'll need an early scan next time to check the pregnancy is in the right place as you'll at an increased risk for another ectopic. If you were unlucky enough to have a second then it is better to catch it early so they can try to save the tube. For that reason it is better to wait a couple of cycles so you know your routine and know if you are pregnant early. There is no other reason to wait though so you could just test frequently if you wanted to get going.

I was concerned that they've said 2 cycles but what if I get pregnant by accident before then, nothing is 100%effective so it's worried me that I could get pregnant without planning to Confused

There is no medical reason not to as far as I am aware, it is just to date your pregnancy. Did you have keyhole surgery?

Yeah keyhole surgery at the beginning of July. It's all healed, the remaining bits of stitches have fallen off now too

I'd go for it if you feel emotionally ready, just keep an eye out for signs of pregnancy so you can get your early scan.

You only need to wait if you have mextrate injection.

I was told I could get trying soon as I felt ready.

You need to tell your GP or contact early oregnancy unit when you become pregnant again. Im 4 weeks and need to call GP on monday to get a scan booked in. Just anxious as only just missed period and worried will ve calling to say period has arrived.

Also there is a charity called the ectopic pregnancy trust they are amazing. Not a day goes by where I don't remember rememver waking up knowing part of my body was gone along with a baby I barely knew was there.

Good luck and loads of healing vibes.
