Hi, am hoping someone has been in this situation before and can advise. I'm nearly 45 and have been trying for a second child for 5 years but been told I'm running low on eggs so stopped ttc. However this month I'm 10 days late but tests are showing BFN - is it worth me keep testing - what do you think??

Hiya, I was 12 days late on my last cycle (43 days compared to normal 31 days) and I think it was because I ovulated later than normal. AF always comes 2 weeks after ovulation, so late ovulation means late AF. Probably not worth testing again but maybe in a few days if it doesn't come try again? Did your tests come back conclusively earlier than this with your first pregnancy?

Fingers crossed I'm talking rubbish though and you get your bfp xx

Thank you for replying. Yes you're right maybe that's it. I kept showing negative with my DS until I was 8 days late but I'm already past that so am really confused. Symptoms are strange too. I'm feeling nausious, bloated and emotional but my boobs aren't sore like with my son... Confusedconfused but ever hopeful lol

It would be v unusual to still be getting negatives at 10 days late. I hate to say it but it may be the start of perimenopause - it's normal for periods to become less regular and predictable. You could go to GP for blood test to confirm but they may also suggest that it is perimenopause.

Maybe wait another week or so and if still getting negatives, see if GP can do anything for you>
