If you're in england you can get statutory maternity pay from government instead. I had to get that as i didnt know i was pregnant when i started my job. Was only there 17 weeks haha x

I am in England. Started job officially on 31st July but have a lot of hours outstanding for consultancy work I was doing for them before then since about May. I didn't have a contract for this.

Last period was 9th July.

I've been reading about due dates and changing things around on your MATB1 form so hopefully by then things might have changed slightly and I might (on paper) be able to get the midwife to change the EDD by 2 weeks!

As long as you were pregnant 1 week before you started, you'll get SMP. Your dates work for this right now. And you shouldn't be moved forwards more than 1 week at the dating scan. You should be fine!

Is 'pregant' counted as the day you conceive? That was 22nd July, which does work.

I tried the calculator on the government website which seems to say that I needed to be employed before 15th July :/

Your MATB1 date will be based on your dating scan and no your midwife won't change it, she'll use the correct date.

No, you won't get SMP as you will have to have started your job on 2nd July.
