On 27th July I took a test and it was positive, on 30th July I went to the doctors after bleeding and tested negative, she said to repeat the test in a few days, I took another test on 5th which was positive, went to the early pregnancy unit today expecting them to scan me and they didn't they just sent me for a blood test to test my hcg level and have to wait till tomorrow to get results, has anyone any experience in this? My head is all over the place and I don't know what to think!

They probably won't have scanned you because of how early on in your pregnancy you are/were. A blood test to check hcg levels is normal in early pregnancy when they're unsure they'll see anything on a scan. A scan is much more expensive than a blood test and they can get the answers they need from the blood test without scanning. They'll come back showing how much hcg is in your blood and they also might test a second time to see if they've risen between both occasions you were tested. I'm sorry you're stuck in limbo and don't know where you stand. It's incredibly tough. I've been through a period of waiting between scans to have a pregnancy confirmed as being "viable" or not and the wait is awful. I found keeping busy was the best way to cope with it but look after yourself and don't overdo it. Best of luck x

Sorry to hear you're going through this confusing time. When exactly where you due to start your period?

MouseLove · 07/08/2017 18:24

It's normal. They will test your blood again in 48 hours if you're pregnant to make sure your levels are rising. Good luck. X

Just had my results and the nurse said I probably was pregnant but now I'm defiantly not! Sad she said I've got to wait for my next period before we try again, any ideas how long roughly that will take to come? Thanks

Oh I'm so sorry. Look after yourself, take it easy and accept any emotions you feel as being entirely normal.

You don't actually need to wait for another period. Some advise that simply for dating a new pregnancy should you fall pregnant straight away. My midwife actually told me we didn't need to wait after my most recent miscarriage. Do what you feel is right and start trying again whenever you're ready. I've had two miscarriages and with both, my partner and I decided to ttc before my first af. There's no medical reason you need to wait now that you've had the all clear from the doctor as being not pregnant. If you fall pregnant again right away, they'll date from today most likely.

Otherwise, if you do want to wait for your first period, my first period arrived at day 31 after surgery for my first mc (missed), and the second I'm not sure whether it was a period but potentially day 30 after bleeding began (natural). Things could take a little longer to get back into a routine or they could fall right back on track. There's no telling really.

Please take care and I wish you all the best for the future x

Thank you so much we will take each day as it comes and it will hopefully happen eventually. It all happened so fast as it was our first month ttc so it's been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions this last few week! Hopefully next time we will get lucky xx

I'm sorry it wasn't the result you wanted. Keep your spirits high, it will happen, you've just got to keep that hope. Xxx
