How the chuff do you use OPKs?!

So I've googled relentlessly and tried to decipher the instructions - but what am I looking for?!

So far, I understand that both lines should be the same to signify ovulation - is that right?

Is there any time of the day I should be testing?

Does the line slowly get darker or will it pop from nowhere?

I've no idea when I'm ovulating right now and have just spent 3 weeks travelling around the US so I imagine it's all over the place. I'm just testing everyday and so far, the first line was the strongest and now there's nothing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes the lines need to be the same colour or the test line darker. It's best to test in the afternoon.

It took me a while to work out the opk's in my experience I always have a very faint line on an opk no matter when I do one in my cycle (not sure if it's the Clomid that makes it do that or if it's normal as I never even had a hint of a line before taking clomid) then about a day before my surge it starts to get darker then the next day I normally get a positive - I get my positives about 7pm!
One thing I would recommend is get a clear blue digital ovulation test and use them with your internet cheapies as sometimes they are hard to read but you can't deny a smiley face 😊 good luck

Added a picture so you can see what I mean x

That's brilliant, thank you! Didn't realise you had to do it at the same time - wonder if that's why they've been so different!

I would definitely stick to the same time every day then when it's nearly positive start testing a few times a day so you catch the start of your surge - which is why I would recommend using the cheap internet OPKS alongside the clear blue digital:) x

You should also try to hold your bladder for a few hours before testing.

Between 10am and 8pm is the best time to test. Same time each day. I also don't drink loads before either.

Thanks so much everyone! Feel a little bit more like I know what I'm doing now...

This is what mine look like so far, in order - I'm on CD12 ATM of a usually 30ish day cycle - so I can't have missed it right??

This isn't mine I'm only on cycle day 10 have 27 day cycles is it normal to be having positive tests so soon? Done these two tests today. It all depends what length your cycles are as to when you begin to test and from 10-8 is the correct time to test so I've read.

Sorry meant to say these are mine* Blush

holzyb20 · 07/08/2017 17:08

Molly if you have a normal 30 day cycle, you probably ain't due to ovulated until around CD 16 so that's why your opks look like that keep testing they will get darker 😊 x

Mollydog88 · 08/08/2017 11:22

Definitely looking more obvious by testing later today! Thanks everyone x

Mollydog88 · 09/08/2017 12:27

Thanks Poppy! I've just ordered some - cheap stick had absolutely no line whatsoever today so hopefully they'll make it a bit easier!

Hi Molly how are your opks coming along??

LouLou you better get baby dancing!! 😜 x

MouseLove · 09/08/2017 16:15

Does anyone use the clearblue ovulation kits and which one do you recommend? There's one with a static smiley and 2 day and the other has flashing and 4 day on the box? I'm not having much luck with cheapies.

holzyb20 · 09/08/2017 16:22

I use the clear blue digital alongside the cheapies I use the 2 day one so much easier 😊

@holzyb20 I've already informed the OH to have his pants off when I get home 😂😂 TMI maybe but got to keep it light hearted! X

holzyb20 · 09/08/2017 16:31

😂 at least he knows! as soon as I got my smiley face and OH walked in I basically jumped on him and all he was hoping for was he's dinner 😂🤣 x

Mollydog88 · 09/08/2017 17:41

😂😂 love this! Absolutely nothing today! No idea what's going on. I reckon it's all a bit messed up having been through 4 different time zones in the last three weeks so I'll just keep testing and see what happens!
