Luteal phase

I have recently come off the pill and not TTC yet but wanted to know if all is ok so used opks for a couple of months to see what's going on.

I don't get a second line on the tests until well into my cycle, and it never looks properly positive, though the line looks almost dark enough at around day 20 (29'day cycle).

Assuming I am actually ovulating (fingers crossed) what does it mean that it's so late in my cycle?

It means you may have a short luteal phase. At this stage I wouldn't worry about tracking. The pill can mess up your cycles for a while. Lots of sex and love and worry about tracking when you feel nothing is happening. A more relaxed approach will give you the will power should you need to TTC for a long time. Fingers crossed you are pregnant sooner.

Thank you mouse.

I don't plan to use them on an ongoing basis, I Just wanted some reassurance things are working, as we are are in our 30s and would like more than one child if we are fortunate enough for that to happen, so haven't got bags of time.

I guess I just have to hope I start to ovulate earlier then, as from what I've read a short luteal phase can be a problem Confused

I agree with mouse, don't worry yet.

My first cycle off the pill I ovulated day 33, AF came day 36 (!).

My second cycle off the pill I ovulated day 23, AF came day 30.

I'm on my third cycle and have had my flashing smiley on day 14 so will probably ovulate around day 18. Hopefully luteal phase longer this time too.

I was told don't worry about your cycle until it's been more like a year. So it is frustrating but probably nothing to worry about. It really does just take a while to get back to normal. I'm taking extra 50mg B6 to speed up the process of regulating my cycle (helps with prolactin levels or something) but sadly it's a waiting game.

I'm 33 OP and it's my birthday in November. We hit a year TTC soon but we've been on and off since 2013. Married for 8 yrs. sometimes things go to plan and sometimes they don't. I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks in February. The best thing you can do is enjoy the process and have fun. X

Thank you ladies for your perspectives, hopefully it'll settle down in time then xx
