How long to get pregnant after being on the pill?

Hey

I was just wondering how long it took people to get pregnant after being on the pill?

I've been on it for the past 14 years and have just stopped taking it. DH and I have agreed to try for our first.

Would love some shared experiences so I know what to expect? Have read it can take a few months or even happen pretty much straight away.

Thanks

Almost a year. Hope it's quicker for you!

Sharl2017 · 06/08/2017 23:46

Came off the pill December.
Early MC February.
Ovarian Cyst removal June.
Still awaiting successful BFP.

Some people fall pregnant in their first month... some don't. Everyone's different so there is nothing to measure against.

Immediately for me, 3 times

GlitteryFluff · 07/08/2017 01:08

I was on microgynon for about 10 years and fell pregnant after two months.

GlitteryFluff · 07/08/2017 01:09

When I was not on any hormonal contraception (had been using condoms) and decided to TTC number 2 it took about 9 months to fall pregnant!

MotherofBoy · 07/08/2017 06:19

#1 - only had one af and I was upduffed

#2 - ttc atm, cycle 7 and counting...

I came off in October, tried half-heartedly (if I'm honest) and fell pregnant in February. So not too bad! I think it would have been quicker if we'd DTD more often, but, real life happened!

McTufty · 07/08/2017 06:47

I'm not pregnancy but I came off microgynon in May, period came after 33 days but cycle not regular yet e.g. very short luteal phase so although have started ovulating not really properly fertile yet.

It really does just depend sadly, I hope you're one of the lucky ones!

MujosMama · 07/08/2017 06:52

I was on the pill for 15 years and fully expected to need at least 6 months for my period to regulate and to get pregnant but it happened in the 2nd month. I used the Clue app and monitored my BBT to try and get to know my natural cycle. Also tried ovulation test strips, relatively cheap off Amazon.

sunbird17 · 07/08/2017 06:57

I was on Microgynon for about 10 years. Came off, tracked cycles for 3 months whilst using condoms so my cycles could regulate, then stopped condoms and got pregnant first month of trying.

cliffdiver · 07/08/2017 07:20

With DD2 I was pregnant within 2/3 weeks of stopping the pill.

Good luck Flowers

Stopped taking the pill the week before my wedding with a view to ttc further down the line, had a contraception fail on my honeymoon a couple of weeks later, thought it would be ok as hadn't had a period and heard it can take a while for them to come back but turns out you can get pregnant right away and here I am with my lovely oopsie baby...

GMtoBe · 07/08/2017 07:45

Came off pill last July, fell pregnant at the end of January this year. Am currently nearly 30 weeks pregnant.

Penguin27 · 07/08/2017 08:12

I took my last pill on 31/12 but we didn't start ttc straight away, used condoms for two cycles to let things settle. Fell pregnant on 3rd cycle after stopping the pill Smile 17w currently!

Penguin27 · 07/08/2017 08:16

Now I think I might have miscounted and it was successful on 4th cycle; I'd had 3 AFs ... I think Confused

Oysterbabe · 07/08/2017 10:20

5 months first time and 2 months second time.

BoyMumma · 07/08/2017 14:14

Came off pill in 3 months before ttc and fell pregnant on 3rd month of trying!
Was on the pill and then mini pill for 10 years +

Good luck!

Vonni1 · 07/08/2017 15:12

Came off pill (long term like you) in December got pregnant in July.

PurpleTygrrr · 07/08/2017 15:18

It took me 9 months to get back into a regular cycle. They varied from 66-45 days and then when it settled I got a 33 day cycle and got pregnant the next cycle if that makes sense. Currently 16 weeks pregnant with a little girl! I think it just depends and can vary from woman to woman. One friend took 12 months and another got pregnant after her last pill period when coming off.

Good luck.Smile

TuddlesAndSisses · 07/08/2017 15:22

I had been on the pill for 15 years, agreed with DH to stop taking it on our first wedding anniversary. Must have ovulated and conceived within days as I had a BFP two weeks later. I think DH was feeling a bit cheated as we'd presumed there'd be months of trying.

Good luck!

TallulahBetty · 07/08/2017 19:08

3 weeks. Very lucky. Good luck to you Flowers

Blazedandconfused · 07/08/2017 19:47

Immediately. As in, DS2 was planned but was the equivalent of a missed pill. Leaves me utterly terrified of conceiving an unwanted 3rd child.
