Late periods while ttc making me crazy!!

Hi, I'm started to drive myself crazy! I have never ever been regular and my periods can go from the 14th of a month nothing the next month the 27th of the next and the 7th of the next ect. No pattern at all. My doctors tell me not to worry and really aren't much help at all (I think because I'm only 23 they don't take these things too serioisly) I'm pretty fit and healthy but the whole thing is making ttc a nightmare. I cant track properly, tell when I'm ovulating and every month my hopes sky rocket when AF doesn't appear, only for me to be heartbroken when it turns up a few weeks later. It means I'm takeing nearly 2 tests a week and I don't think it's healthy for my state of mind! Anyone else have similar experiences? I have been pregnant before but sadly ended in mmc. Thanks in advance x

Sorry to hear that your periods are irregular. Do you think using OPKs might help you get a better understanding of when you are ovulating and also checking your cervical mucus. For me I felt comforted knowing that I actually ovulated by checking my temperature every morning. It is bloody annoying, but I've decided to look at it like a science experiment as weird as that may sound.

Also I heard that although you may not have consistent ovulation the luteal phase is pretty much the same length of days regardless. So once you've pinpointed ovulation if you know how long your luteal phase lasts then you know when you can reasonably expect your period to show/not show up.

Thanks for the reply! I might try taking my temperature as you say, maybe that's the way forward for me! I'll do a little research thanks a lot :)

Hi OP. I also have irregular periods but what I found really helped was using an app that takes your period dates (if you can put them in for the last few months) and then will give u an average expected ovulation and period date. Based on this app I know when to start using opks and it's worked wonders.
I caught first time trying with ds and then caught first time again in June which sadly ended in mc 3 weeks ago.
So I guess what I mean is there is hope even with irregular cycles :)

Thanks for your response. Im so sorry to hear about your mc, there's no words but lots of support on mums net. Fingers crossed when your ready to start trying again things go well.
I might look at an app that would be helpful..i was trying not to get too 'sciencie' about it but think the time has come to really start keeping a close track. Thanks

That's okay and also sorry to hear about your previous mc too.
I think with irregular cycles unless your prepared to dtd every day (no thanks 😂) you do need a bit of guidance on when is an approx time to work towards.
Good luck, fingers crossed!

Since January, I've had very irregular cycles. Here is a snippet.

I do OPKs every month for around two weeks as I can't easily predict ovulation. I also have had short luteal phases which doesn't help. Using an app has really helped me.
