Hey,

Two months a go I had the copper coil removed, my first months period after this lasted for 1 day! thought i might be pregnant but took a test and it was negative! I have recently had my 2nd period after having the coil removed and this time it only lasted 2 days! The most recent one was more of a brown colour with some bright red... I have also had really sore boobs the last few weeks and still have now even though the bleeding has stopped. I took a test the day of my period which was 6 days ago but it was negative... is it normal to have short periods after having the cooper coil removed? Could i be pregnant? Has anyone else had the same issues?

Thanks in advance

Hi Becky. 😊
Had the cool removed also and WOAH what I wouldn't have given to be you! Periods erratic and dreadfully painful, moody, over eating, nightmare.
I'm sure you just have to wait until everything "settles down". Maybe see how your next one is then try and see GP. Are you trying to conceive ?
Ps - my boobs got so bad that I put my bra on the freezer..... heaven !!! Lol xx

Hey, thanks for the reply. Didn't really have any of those symptoms as it was a non hormonal one, was yours a hormonal one? So sorry to hear what you went through though. The doctors told me that my period should carry on as normal and that it shouldn't affect me so not sure at all what is going on. Yeah we are trying to get pregnant, so fingers crossed!

Totally normal. I had a copper coil and my periods went from 10 days to 2-3. They also became a bit more irregular (or maybe I was just paying more attention). I did a bit of research when I noticed the huge change and lots of people reported changes, despite it being non-hormonal.

If you're getting negative tests it is extremely unlikely you are pregnant, especially as you were taking tests after af, which means you would have been 16ish dpo? If still feeling off it would be pretty definitive if you wait a week and test again.

Hi Physicskate,

Thanks for the info, did your periods get back to normal, if so how long did it take? I'm just concerned as It shouldn't have affected me apparently and my boobs are killing me. Maybe I took the test to early?

Well I've just had an ultrasound (ttc 16 months) and turns out I have polycystic ovaries and it looks like I have some other symptoms of pcos....

The research that I did suggested most people did return to 'normalcy'. It was loads of chemical reactions that were stopping pregnancy and now those chemical reactions aren't happening.... give it time.
