Just diagnosed with PCOS - can anyone help?

I'm 33 and have just been diagnosed with PCOS.

I mentioned to the GP that I had some facial hair and spots around my jawline and she tested me for PCOS and I have it.

My periods range from 32 days to 42 days - I have gone 50 days before.

I had an ultrasound scan but no cysts were found on my ovaries.

I want to do everything I can myself to give myself the best possible chance of getting pregnant.

Does anyone have any help books they can recommend? Or food/drink tips? Just anything you have done that has worked or helped?

Thanks you in advance!

I'd love to get the same advice you are after. I have had an ultrasound which showed a very age number of cysts... but have not had any diagnosis yet (I do get the odd facial hair and cycles can vary from 31-39 days but I'm not overweight and don't have many other symptoms...). So I'd love to get the advice you get...

I am aware that you can have PCO and not have PCOS... which is different to you!

I am looking at/ thinking about adopting a vegan diet (not lifestyle) as I am getting a bit worried about all of the hormones/ industrial toxins found in meat and animal products! That shows my level of desperation.... I love cheese and it boggles my mind I am even investigating this!!

I've been TTC about 16 months now and had 2 chemical pregnancies (which again could show I am not making mature eggs which can be PCOS or PCO related...). You?

After TTC #1 for 12 months without success, I had tests and cysts were found on my ovaries, explaining why my cycles had become increasingly longer (around 70ish days). I was slightly overweight and decided to lose some of it. I've since lost a stone (my BMI is now 25.9) through Slimming World and my last two cycles have been back to their usual 30-ish days.
If you are overweight, it would certainly be worth trying, to regulate your cycles if nothing else. Hope that helps!

Getting fit really helped me with my first, we'd been trying for almost two years when I started exercising more often and got pregnant. I also used this book 'how to get pregnant: the Zhai programme for successful conception' with my second and I feel pregnant after two months of being on the programme. May have been coincidence but it was nice to feel like I was actively doing something to help iyswim. Good luck Flowers
