What do you class as spotting and what as light period? Sorry for tmi!! I'm tracking using ovia and now sure if I'm being accurate enough? Would you say if you need to use a tampon that's light period? That's what I go for?

If it's watery and doesn't leave hardly anything behind in a panty liner then that's spotting. Anything else as well as actual blood when wiping is a period. X

On wiping only - spotting

Smear in discharge - spotting

Pinky/ brown/ red on pad leaving at least mark of say 50p piece I would say period.

I am in the same situation as you and have spent the last week googling and trying to find the difference (and possibly driven myself crazy in the process Grin). I have come to the conclusion that spotting is generally on wiping a tiny bit of discharge, maybe as small as a 2p but intermittent and only lasts for 2 days ish. Anything more than that I think would sound as a period.
Sadly mine turned into a period (I think Hmm)
