Short luteul phase

Hi I am currently trying to conceive - I lost my baby during labour in February and have been tracking my cycles for the last couple of months. I seem to be ovulating quite late - positive opk on cd18 of

Sorry hit post to early - cd18 of 29 day cycle (10day LP) and then cd19 this month but my af is due in 9 days according to Ovia. Just wondering if anyone has successfully got pregnant with a short luteal phase? Also if this is normal 5 months after giving birth (maybe my cycles just haven't regulated yet?)
Thanks :)

Sorry for your loss.

My friend had exactly the same problem.
She swears by chick peas, lots of chick peas in her diet for ttc and first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Good luck.

My luteal phase shortened from about 12 days to 10 days after a missed miscarriage in my 1st trimester. Apparently 10 days is considered the bottom end of normal but I'm waiting on some progesterone measurement blood results to see if it's being affected by my progesterone levels. How short is your LP?

SilverLilly · 03/08/2017 21:01

I was going to post about this today. I've just had a 23day cycle with 9 days luteal phase. Has anyone had any success lengthening their luteal phase with suppliments etc? Or anything else I can do?

MouseLove · 03/08/2017 22:57

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a MMC at 10 weeks in February and my cycles have been getting shorter and shorter since. I'm currently on 25 day cycles but FF app thinks I'm ovulating as late as CD16, although my temps start rising from CD11 (which is when I think I ovulated) I'm thinking of ditching the cheap OPK next cycle and trying a clearblue in a bid to see what's happening. We hit a year TTC soon so feeling like I need to get on the same page as my body. I have no idea how to fix a luteal phase defect. I also medicate my hyperthyroidism.

Sorry for your losses too @MouseLove and @PoppyJ1
I think my LP is about 9 or 10 days according to Ovia. It was definitely longer before falling pregnant last time. I've read b vitamins can help? I'm taking seven seas trying for a baby and they have some b vitamins in them - not sure if it is enough though and if not how much would be and when in cycle to take them? Have any of you heard of this? X

Vitamin B6, try 50mg per day initally. Some say take as part of b complex but I don't. Also 750mg of vitamin C can help with progesterone levels (one cause of short luteal phases).

I'm using pregnacare as they'd notorious for lengthening cycles, not normally in a good way but it's what I need!!

PoppyJ1 · 04/08/2017 14:46

SJ88 yes I heard the same about vitamin B. Is it in your pre conception vitamins? I've been taking Pregnacare conception. Plenty of women get pregnant with a luteal phase of 9-10 days so yours doesn't sound so bad, just borderline.

SilverLilly · 04/08/2017 18:38

Been to boots today to get my B6 vitamins, we'll see if this works. I'm also going to start temping to see when/if I'm actually ovulating. Good luck

SJ88 · 04/08/2017 22:05

@SilverLilly are you going to take them everyday of your cycle or are you just supposed to take them on certain days? I think I might try them next cycle. I've been using opks and they seem to be working quite well - I've thought about temping but I'm not a great sleeper and I think it has to be done after a certain amount of uninterrupted sleep each night? Xx

I'm really sorry for your loss.

I typically ovulate on day 17 or 18 of a 28 day cycle. It took 10 months to conceive DS1 and one time to conceive DS2.

Hotpinkangel19 · 04/08/2017 22:25

My LP is 9-10 days, I'm pregnant with DC4. It happens. Good luck x

SilverLilly · 04/08/2017 22:43

@SJ88 I'm going to take them everyday and see what happens. I've also read there's a progesterone cream to use from ovulation to end of cycle (or into pregnancy) but I'll see if B6 does anything first. It is a bit worrying reading (googling) about a short luteal phase but hopefully it will work out.

SJ88 · 04/08/2017 22:46

@Rockandrollwithit @Hotpinkangel19 thanks so much for letting me know that & congratulations to you both. It's really helpful to hear that others have gotten pregnant with similar LP and gives me some more hope! Think after everything that's happened this year I'm starting to fear the worst with everything and worrying about things when maybe I should just try to relax (easier said than done) this is the first cycle ttc (although been using opks for a while) so hopefully i will be like you both and get my bfp with a shorter LP xx

@SJ88 I never temped, just used OPKs. X
