Hi ladies, I've had 2 missed miscarriages this year and currently in the process of trying everything to make sure next time works out. I bought It Starts with the Egg and have started taking preconception vitamins, however stuck on the CoQ10 - no idea which brand to get. Can I ask if anyone else has read this book and followed any of the advice and what tablets you took/are taking? Thank you!

Nope i haven't read that , but your condition is very similar to mine trust me you shall get through this everything will be fine , visit a good doctor and things will only get better, also the preconception vitamins are the right thing to take as they are very helpful.

You need Ubiquinol op, which is the stronger form of CoQ10. I don't use a particular brand of it. I just shop around online for what is cheapest. It's eye wateringly expensive, but hopefully worth it.

I've read ISWTE and it has some excellent advice. I think some of it is too hard to follow. You can't get through life in 2017 without touching plastic! However I've tried my best to switch to organic products, bought a water filter etc.

Supplements wise I currently take the following...DHEA 75mg (but I have very low egg reserves) Ubiquinol 300mg, melatonin 3mg, Folic Acid 5mg, vitamin E, C and B vitamins and omega 3.

Your partner also needs to be taking care of himself as poor sperm quality can also be a factor in miscarriage. A good conception multi vitamin at the very least, healthy diet, no smoking and minimal booze (same goes for you, what fun timesWink)

I had a miscarriage at five weeks in June after 13 months of ttc. Just had a private Hysteroscopy abroad which removed a septum and extensive scar tissue which surgeon said probably contributed to my miscarriage. Back on the ttc train now...

Good luck op.

There's good reoccurrent miscarriage advice on pages 239 and 240.

My other bit of advice would be to do your own research (which you are) and don't just take your GPs word for things) I've found the NHS worse than useless during my whole infertility journey. They tell you to take folic acid and that's it!Shock

Thank you so much for your responses. I've ordered £50 worth of Ubiquinol today so will start on that as soon as it arrives, I'm also taking an additional vitamin c tablet. I was going to take an extra vitamin e and d but didn't want to take too much on top of the preconception tablets.

It's a nightmare with the plastic though! I've got rid of tupperwares and have bought some expensive glass ones. I've also bought new cleaning products, Method and ecover which are meant to be better. Impossible to avoid parfum in shampoo, conditioner, deodorant etc so I'm just having to leave that.

Hi OP, just wanted to add that there are quite a few natural brands of shampoo, deo etc out there now that don't contain perfume/perfume.
Have a look at Green People, Sukin, Lavera, Faith in Nature and Neals Yard Remedies. Holland and Barrett sell some, the rest you can buy online.
Think I need to read that book! Good luck hon.

slightlyfrazzled35 · 02/08/2017 22:09

Faith in Nature range is really nice. Holland & Barrett also sell Dr Organic. I can recommend their pomegranate toothpaste and they do perfume free deodorant.

You can still take extra vitamins on top of preconception ones. ISWTE recommends the additional antioxidants. I take additional C & D atm.

Ah thank you so much littlemimosa and slightlyfrazzled I'm going to order some Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner now and pop to Neal's Yard and have a look at some of their stuff later. I will feel so disheartened if after all this it doesn't work! At least it's better overall for me and the environment.
