Ovulation pain after miscarriage/molar

Hi everyone

I'm new to posting on this forum. I've been an observer for a while and it's been an amazing support!

I had a miscarriage at end April which was a molar pregnancy and have had 2 D&Cs. My hormone levels are now pack to normal and I've had my first period which was a relief. I've had a bit of a rough time as I've been generally unwell with headaches, nausea. I've also had really sharp pains in my lower abdomen mostly on the left side but scans haven't shown anything unusual.

We're TTC again and I've just had a static smiley on the clear blue OPK (woho!) but last night and today I've had really really strong pains in my lower left side near my groin. I wondered whether this is ovulation pain and if anyone else has had this after miscarriage? I feels like someone is literally stabbing me and squeezing my insides - it comes on really suddenly and lasts for about 30 seconds. The doctor thinks its an infection but I'm still worried about it. I've heard ovulation after miscarriage can be painful but surely not this painful?!

Any thoughts, reassuring or not would be really appreciated :) Thanks

Hi OP,
I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage and I wish you luck with the TTC.

I haven't miscarried so my situation isn't exactly the same but I suffer from bad ovulation pain each month. After each pregnancy, I found that my ovulation pain got worse. It's bad enough that I can't walk or sit comfortably when I get it and if I'm asleep, it wakes me up. Often I can tell which side I'm ovulating from but it always also feels like shooting, stabbing pains down my back passage. It's a very different pain to period cramps. I know for sure it's ovulation as I always get my period 2 weeks later.

Sorry I can't read your original post when writing my reply. Just to add, my ovulation pain lasts longer than 30 seconds (I always take a painkiller when I get it so don't know how long it would last if I took nothing) and I feel very tender the next day. That's not to say your pain isn't ovulation pain because it lasts only a short time.....

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage opFlowers

I've never heard before that ovulation pains can be stronger after miscarriage. However I had a loss at five weeks in June and my ovulation pains three weeks later were noticeably more painful than normal. It felt like someone was grabbing and pulling my stomach just inside right hip bone!

Hope you manage to conceive again soon.

Hey Sarah952,

The kind of symptoms you are telling seem that that of urine infection, get yourself tested and drink a lot of water , in no time you will be fine.

I just wanted to post on here (sorry for the zombie thread) in case anyone else ends up on the thread looking for similar stories.
I've had 1mmc found at 10 weeks - baby died at 6 weeks, and another miscarriage, and a chemical before the MCs. We're now trying again and over the past 2 cycles I have also experienced severe ovulation pain. This month ovulation confirmed with BBT spike and positive OPK. It lasted approx 36-48 hours and worsened towards the point of what I assume was ovulation yesterday afternoon, to the point where I was having to do breathing exercises to get through the pain and take paracetamol. I've never had pain like this with ovulation before.
I want to post here as I have an appointment with a consultant gynae in march for recurring miscarriage and I will ask about the pain in the appointment, and update this thread again. Hope everyone who has posted previously managed to move forwards and my condo for your losses 💔
