I don't think its necessary before TTC. I started both as soon as we began TTC, even if you fall the first month thats still 2 weeks worth of them in your system before you would be pregnant and even that is before baby is actually taking nutrients from you.

I think the advice is Folic acid 3 months before TTC & vit D from BFP?

Ekphrasis · 01/08/2017 14:18

For max effect 3 months before ttc. So eg pregnacare from 3 mo before. Folic acid definitely is most important and the only one you must take if you prefer not to do conception vitamins along with vit d.

About 3 months prior to TTC for me with folic acid and vit d

MeltorPeltor · 01/08/2017 14:33

I think I had some Boots 'Conception' vitamins that I was taking before hand with no.1.

3 months before at least so your system can build its supply. However I've been TTC 10 months now so I've been taking it a lot longer than 3 months.

eurochick · 01/08/2017 18:39

The recommendation is three months, so the levels can build up, but in my case it was three years as ttc took so long.

Thanks all, I really appreciate your advice. I've been on them since July and we're going to TTC from September, which will be about 2+ months. Hopefully that'll be adequate. As you mention, it's unlikely to happen right away.
