RLR ? I?d love to help you. I am one of the people who temp and chart and watch CM etc. When I started TTC, I had NO idea what my cycle should be like or what happened when. I then bought Toni Weschler?s book ?Taking Charge of Your Fertility? as recommended to me on here and I learnt so many incredible things about my body. I got my BFP after 7 cycles of charting (I had been on the pill for 18 years and am 33 so that wait wasn?t too bad) sadly I MC recently and am starting the process again but I?m going right back to charting.
It can tell you the following, maybe not the first cycle but definitely after a few when you see your own pattern:
? When you are likely to ovulate
? When you are at your most and least fertile
? When your period is normally due
? How long your luteal phase is (time between ovulation and period)
? If you are pregnant (signified by at least 18 high temps over your coverline)
? If you have any issues and what they are likely to be
Some people find doing this adds stress to TTC but I find the knowledge calms me down.
What has been said about the cervical fluid is true and it?s a really important fertile sign. After AF, the CM starts off thick, gummy like, then proceeds to being creamy/hand lotiony and then, just before OV it can resemble egg white. That is the most fertile stuff. Some people don?t get this but notice that they are much wetter around this time. If you really don?t get much and that happens to a lot of us, you may be able to increase it by drinking a glass of grapefruit juice a day, failing this, there is a sperm friendly lubricant called Pre Seed which mimics your CM and can provide the appropriate medium for sperm to swim and survive in until they meet the egg. This is the reason why the fertile CM is so important.
I?m afraid I cannot tell from the info you gave when you are likely to have ovulated because I don?t know some of the info I listed above. I know that Zita West has a rough calculation for your fertile period in her book but not for ovulation.
Ovulation predictor kits can be useful but there can be a surge of luteinising hormone at other stages of your cycle which might give you a false positive. I do use them myself but only really to back up what I can see happening from my chart.
I hope this helps. If I can give you any more info, let me know
