Help please! Pregnant or poorly?

So basically! I am 24 and have been TTC for around 18 months. I recently had my period which was on time and with a regular heavy flow (but the cramps weren't as bad as usual). I didn't think anything of it, and I assume I am once again not pregnant.
AF Arrived on 17th July and ended on 23rd July. At 1am on 23rd July I began vomiting, and this continued for 12 hours. Along with the vomiting I had lower back pain and was very weak. Since then (now 3 days later) I have not vomited, but been very nauseous and still have the back pain. I just need your advice, was this just a bug that won't go? Am I stupid to think anything else? I must add that I am NEVER poorly. I was also in a confined space with 3 people when vomiting, and none of them have become sick, so I assume it was not a stomach bug.

Please help me I'm driving myself mad!

Have you done a test?

Bobbiepin · 26/07/2017 14:26

It would be odd to have a normal period and then be pregnant but take a test to confirm. Just because you aren't often ill, doesn't mean it is impossible. If you are vomiting and have back pain my first thought would be kidney infection - does it hurt to pee?

Sluttybartfast · 26/07/2017 14:29

It was almost certainly just a bug, sorry. These things often linger and kill your appetite for a while. That or you ate something that didn't sit right with you, which would cause the same symptoms.

Pregnancy sickness can indeed start early but it wouldn't cause 12 hrs of intense vomiting and then go, and you've had your period. Unless you're getting positive tests, I don't think you're pregnant.

PurpleDaisies · 26/07/2017 14:29

You can't assume it wasn't a bug based on that. Not everyone catches everything going around.

The only way you can tell if you're pregnant or not is to take a test. It sounds like a bug based on what you've said though.

PleaseStopRaining · 26/07/2017 14:35

That doesn't sound like pregnancy to me either. Sorry.

Sluttybartfast · 26/07/2017 14:36

Oh, and the back pain sounds like your kidneys. See a doctor soon if it doesn't get better, now if you have a temperature.

AshesEmbersFlames · 26/07/2017 14:37

It would be very unusual to have a heavy period at the time you expect it and be pregnant. Pregnancy sickness normally takes the form of ongoing sickness and nausea rather than an intense period of vomiting that then stops. What you experienced sounds like a bug. But take a test if you want to be sure.

Wallflower27 · 26/07/2017 14:41

Thanks so much for your response! I had also thought about a possible kidney infection, but it doesn't hurt to pee and there has been no change in any urinary habits.

I should have mentioned that my first pregnancy was exactly like this. I had intense vomiting for a day, then nothing for a week, then another day of intense vomiting etc and the cycle continued like this until the 3rd trimester.
I have not taken any tests.

Why haven't you taken a test? Confused

Nobody can tell you whether you're pregnant or not.

Hippychic18 · 26/07/2017 14:46

Take a test :))
Hope you get the result you want x

Wallflower27 · 26/07/2017 14:51

Do you not think that was a bit blunt?! Because clearly I do not want to take a test completely and utterly pointlessly. I get so depressed when I see a negative result, I do not want to put myself through it unnecessarily.

I am aware that I am v unlikely to be pregnant, sometimes you just need other people to tell you the same thing. My friends do not know I am TTC so I have no one to talk it through with.

Thank you to everyone else's kind comments, you really have helped me x

Just take a test. No one on the internet can tell you if you are pg or not.

PurpleDaisies · 26/07/2017 15:04

I don't think it was blunt because you'd just posted that you were getting identical symptoms to your first pregnancy and you clearly want people to say you should take a test.

Just take a test. It's horrible not being pregnant when you want to be but from bitter experience the longer you let yourself believe you might be pregnant, the worse it is to see the negative. I hope you get a positive result but until you take a test, you're going to be in limbo not really knowing for sure.

PleaseStopRaining · 26/07/2017 15:04

I hope you get a positive test result very soon.

YoureNotASausage · 26/07/2017 15:06

Doesn't sound like it at all. Pregnancy vomiting doesn't really sound like what you have/had at all. Sounds more like food poisoning. I had nausea for about 6 months after getting sick in India.

PleaseStopRaining · 26/07/2017 15:07

In fairness, during two of my pregnancies I have had a sickness bug around week four/five and I think you are more susceptible when pregnant to such bugs.

Wallflower27 · 26/07/2017 15:26

No, I wanted people to advise if they'd had a similar experience. Or tell me I'm just wishful thinking. Thank you for your advice though.

You've all given me some sanity and I am not going to take a test because I know I am not pregnant, it's practically impossible. But as TTC sends you insane, I needed some rational people to set me straight!!

I think it's time to give up the dream.

Is there any need to correct grammatical typos/inaccuracies in the posts of people trying to help you?

SweetheartTreacleTart · 26/07/2017 16:21

Don't some people still get periods when they are pregnant? I'm sure it's rare though. OP I would recommend you take a test and if it's not BFP, maybe you can visit the GP to see what the matter is.

Gemxo · 26/07/2017 16:36

How mature op Smile yes, my spelling/grammar was not the best, but I'm not the one who thinks I'm pregnant after 3 days 🙃🙃🙃

Gemxo · 26/07/2017 16:38

Immaturity at its finest isn't it @pibbee

Gemxo · 26/07/2017 16:41

It's!!!! FORGIVE ME OP
