High fertility clearblue opk during AF?

Hi everyone, I've got a question about the clearblue advanced opk , I'm on day two of my period which started three days late, before it started I'd had a few very faint bfps but they never got darker so I discounted them, and then I started af at 17dpo, we had been ttc and I know when I ovulated from using clearblue advanced opk and symptoms. I assumed that the very faint tests were nothing as I started af. Af has been really abnormal this time too, started with brown bleeding, pretty light, then spotting, then half a day of heavy red, then very light spotting. I started using clearblue advanced opk yesterday, day 2 of af, don't ask me why lol I just start using them early on in my new cycle as I don't trust my body really, yesterday was low fertility, today I got the flashing smiley face! This has never happened before so early on, what on earth is going on? After that happened I used a normal opk as well with smu and it was definitely positive. Could I really be ovulating so soon?

No you couldn't I wouldn't have thought... are you sure it's AF? Worth a pregnancy test as it could be the bleeding isn't AF and I know HCG can make the ovulation kits positive? Or maybe just a dodgy kit. How confusing!

Hi @twinklestarr. I used to get positive opk's before and during my period. I read online that sometimes you get an lh surge before your period and during due to hormone fluctuations. Also I did get a positive opk when I was pregnant too. Worth a hpt to rule that out first before jumping to the hormone conclusion

Oh and on the clear blue dual hormone indicators it's detecting an oestrogen surge too not lh which you get during your period and just before. It's this that causes the temp dip if you're using a bbt chart

Have you done a pregnancy test? I would consider doint one.

Thanks everyone, I know the clearblue advanced measures oestrogen as well, that's why I did the ordinary opk as well, not expecting it to be positive at all but the line was really dark. Still only getting very faint lines on the hpts. My bbs have been tingling like crazy this evening to top it all off. Still light spotting. All very odd. I would have thought I'd have got a darker bfp by now if I was pregnant.

If you're getting positive pregnancy tests but bleeding you may be going through a chemical loss. I would make a GP appointment asap to make sure as sometimes you can still bleed and have a successful pregnancy. The line getting darker thing isn't worth your time. A line is a line. X

Hiya, thanks for the advice, I've had several chemical pregnancies, so it crossed my mind, usually though I've found that the tests go completely negative pretty quickly, although after my most recent mc at 9 weeks a couple of months ago it took ages for them to stop showing faint lines. I've got a private ultrasound place near me, I think I'll make an appointment with them, I think my doctor's getting fed up with me, plus my epu will only offer an ultrasound if I get a decent line on their urine tests, I went in once with multiple frers showing dark lines, they still insisted I did one of theirs, and pulled out one of the cheap poundland strips which I have never got a bfp on ever in any pregnancy, and definitely not with diluted afternoon urine! So it might be a bit less stressful to go private this time lol

Well I'm more confused than ever! Ive been getting darker bfps since I last posted, visible well within the time limit, with colour, and clearly visible with no squinting, tilting, holding up to the light and all the other crazy things we ttcers end up doing lol, there was absolutely no reason to think they weren't bona fide positives, I've still been doing the opks, got a solid smiley face and a positive strip opk yesterday morning, nothing else ties up with it being ovulation though, my cm is creamy, cervix high firm and closed, and my temperature went up the day before ovulation was predicted, even fertility friend is saying my temp rise is not consistent with ovulation as it is supposed to occur after ov, and to confuse things further fertility friend is also saying I appear to have "possibly" ovulated between cd days 8 and 10! And my bbs have become sore today. To top it all off I weighed myself today and I have gained yet more weight, I have been putting on between half a lb and a lb a week for the last six weeks, I usually find it pretty hard to put on weight, I try to keep my weight up if I can as I previously had an eating disorder, but it's a struggle as I have a high metabolism and am very physically active, I cannot understand why I've been putting on so much weight so quickly as I've actually struggled to eat much more than a very small breakfast and an evening meal lately due to stress, and I am even more active cos of my kids being off school for the holidays. My partner also said today that I clearly have a baby bump! I'm starting to wonder if maybe my last period, and maybe even the one before (which my consultant thought was a chemical miscarriage, never had a scan to confirm either way, my hpts which were clearly positive a couple of months ago went negative for a couple of days hence my visit to the epu) which were basically half a day of bleeding and then a few days of light spotting wasn't actually a period. The only thing that's consistent with ovulation at the moment is my sore bbs which I get after ovulation. I haven't done any hpts for the last couple of days as I haven't had a chance to buy some. Starting to feel slightly crazy tbh!

Hi, I'm going to get some more hpts today. My fertility friend chart is showing dotted crosshairs at day 14, which is impossible as I didn't get a positive strip opk and solid smiley on the clearblue digital advanced until day 15, plus ff is still saying that none of my fertility signs match up with the opks or the temps, so i don't see how my opks can have picked up lh, also the bbt line has gone green from day 14 so fertility friend is seriously contradicting itself! Fertility friend is not my friend lol

Meant to say that the bbt line has gone green for pregnancy from day 14. So it's basically saying I ovulated and am pregnant at the same time :0D

Did my hpts this morning, different brands, all lightly positive. If this is a chemical pregnancy then it's the longest chemical pregnancy in history
