Thread 31, TTC1 | Jam and her dodgers still riding the bonking bus for that elusive BFP

Jamon · 24/07/2017 14:01

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Hahaha - really hope the chocolate-based clot comparisons work their way into the next thread title Grin

Thanks kwick weirdly it went the next day, though felt a bit tired - not sure what was up with that.

Hi babi - like the phone ban idea, nice one. Fx for you - impressive willpower to wait before testing. Hopefully you won't need them, but good luck for test results - understand feeling anxious (I kept refreshing my browser to get mine online, then realised was being ridiculous...)

Hi flora - good to hear a bit of PMA! Glad you're seeing some progress

QuietTime · 14/08/2017 21:40

P.S. jam your response re clots was a lot more mature and sensitive... Blush

sk1pper · 14/08/2017 21:49

Quiet - I think a sense of humour is needed sometimes in these situations, so don't worry 😁

Jam - both my GP and fertility clinic know about this but I have to say, they were completely disinterested in my periods. I feel like the NHS just goes through a fertility script sometimes.

MouseLove · 14/08/2017 21:53

Jam I've pmed you. X I'm interested about where you found a fertility group? I was wondering if there would be something similar, maybe miscarriage support or general TTC support near me. X

Skip, oh Hun I didn't realise it was that bad!! Sending massive hugs. That sounds very painful. I didn't even bleed that badly when I miscarried. 😢😔 Although cream egg, well that's ironic. 😪

I'll let you know how I get on with the clearblue, thank you for the offer!! X

Pyjamas FX Hun!!!!! X

JeNe, have you tried vitamin C for the spotting?

Hey Babi 👋☺️

MouseLove · 14/08/2017 22:19

Ps. Must stop reading other threads. 🙄 Woman in AIBU just found out she's 20 weeks pregnant despite having an implant. Fml. And everyone in conception is preggers despite me not being able to see any positive test pics. I feel sometimes my eyes don't see these imaginary lines!

Rant over lol 😂

QuietTime · 14/08/2017 22:21

Thanks skip glad didn't sound like too much of a dick...

Also jam - not ignoring the catch up, just feels a bit early for me (plus am a bit of an introvert); hold a seat warm for me though, and might join on the next one xx

JeNeBaguetteRien · 14/08/2017 22:25

I didn't think you were putting me down Skip, we're all in it together! That does sound big, I know this is gross but could you take a photo on some loo roll (if you can catch it)? They might not realise how big the clots are.

Mouse I will try an extra vitamin C tablet. CD22 today so expecting it to start in the next few days.

Pyjamas81 · 14/08/2017 23:02

Jeez, why can't consultants just tell us the same thing! My acupuncturist recommended baby aspirin but said to check with my consultant first, so I did, and after several emails of her avoiding giving me an answer she said she didn't recommend it as some studies have shown that it adversely affects implantation. She only advises people to take it once they have their BFP as it has been shown to help avoid MC. So much conflicting information!

Think I spoke too soon about no side effects - stomach quite bloated which made the injection more painful and I burst into tears on DH because I had the wrong kind of beans to make dinner! Am ok now, meditation helped and have acupuncture tomorrow...

So glad you found the group supportive jam! Mine's not until the beginning of September, but I'm already looking forward to it.

harrietm87 · 15/08/2017 09:31

Hi everyone just checking in as haven't posted in a while - the thread fell off my "I'm on" list for the first time in ages!

pyjamas sorry about the side effects but excellent news on the follicles - well done!

jam so great you're organising a meet up. Normally I'd love to join but feeling very fragile atm and have cancelled all social engagements for next few weeks! Hope it's really great and count me in for next time.

Oh skipper lol but also ewww at the squashed creme egg! Seriously, that sounds horrific. Can you ask to see a gynaecologist just in relation to that (i.e. separately from ttc)? That is definitely not normal. Poor you.

Re baby aspirin, my specialist recommends it for everyone as standard so I was taking it when ttc this one and up until last week when I was told to stop after getting some brown spotting. I also took it before my 3rd mc. So on my limited experience it didn't seem to help but then again didn't do any harm either as hasn't prevented me conceiving. I have had all the tests though and don't have any sticky blood issues. I guess if you don't know whether you do or not it could be worth a try and I don't think the low dose will do any harm.

Flashinthepan · 15/08/2017 12:24

Hello ladies. Sorry I've been AWOL. I felt a bit distant from the whole idea of trying/getting pregnant the last few weeks that I wasn't sure I had anything helpful to bring to the thread.

I haven't completely caught up but I will try to do that soon.

I've got everything crossed for some juicy eggs from those follicles pyjamas.

And skipper until I went on the pill at 19 I used to have extremely heavy, long periods with huge clots. Similar to the sort of size you describe - sometimes I used to think my whole uterus was coming out in one go! I hugely sympathise. If this is newish for you, is there a possibility that you might have fibroids (sorry if you've already been scanned for this)? I think they can cause heavy/clotty periods.

From my end I now seem to be stuck in a pattern of ovulating on/by CD 10, the Agnus Castus keeps the spotting at bay for about 5 days after this, and then it starts again, but my LP seems to be extended now to 13 days. I think ovulating on CD 10 is a bit early, but I only have a 4 day period, so maybe 6 days is okish for the lining to build up. I'm worried that one ovary isn't working, as having surgery near it can knock it out of action, but maybe that's just paranoia.

I went and got a copy of the letter the gynae wrote to my GP in April, recommending that they refer me back to the hospital for fertility assessment in October/November so that when I go to see the GP they don't argue that I need to try for longer. I don't want to leap into IVF, but I would like to no if I have no obvious problem, a fixable problem or an unfixable problem, as I feel I need to get a handle on where we're going from here.

While I was on holiday in France, I was informed that it is a French supersition that if you finish the bottle of wine, you will be the next person to get pregnant. Needless to say I took one for the team and did all I could to finish lots of bottles of wine!

Flashinthepan · 15/08/2017 12:26

*know not no

Caz345 · 15/08/2017 17:33

Lol totally up trying that out! Gotta love the French!

Hi Flash , I ovulated at CD10 too, just started vitex as well, was celebrating as thought I'd get an nice long Lp but hadn't thought about lining, So that build up pre ovulation?
I'm now 11DPO and my temp was back up this am (yay) hoping to reach 13days lp normally am 9-11days

Babipotjam · 15/08/2017 17:44

Been out today teaching a child who I have for restbite care to ride a bike. It nearly killed me!!! He can do it too when he doesn't know you've let go! This riding a bike thing is way harder than you think!!

Still no sign of AF here but am very warm.

Flash not heard that one. Where bouts in France did you visit?

MouseLove · 15/08/2017 17:57

Hey ladies just thought I'd share this image I found on my luteal phase research. Unfortunately ovulating early can be a pain in the butt as it doesn't give the body enough time to plump up your eggs. (Technical term right there lol) and your lining will be thinner. So, ideally you should look to lengthen each phase of your cycle so that ovulation happens when your eggs are good and juicy and lining is a perfect condition but then doesn't break down early causing a fertilised egg not to implant (possibly my problem IF egg and sperm are getting to one another ok)

Of course I'm probably talking out my arse as this was just for a few articles I looked into. Might help though.

Kathrino · 15/08/2017 18:32

I'd been thinking about you Flash and wondering how you were getting on. I'm in France at the moment and have just finished off a bottle of rosé so here's hoping that holds true for both of us.

Hope everyone else is okay, have terrible mobile signal here so haven't really been able to catch up but thinking of you all Flowers

kwick · 15/08/2017 19:04

skipper when you say your yoga is always toning that area - do you mean you are doing lots of poses targetting your core? Yin yoga has you hold poses for between 3-5 minutes (it is a non-dynamic practice) - by holding for that long apparently it really helps the connective tissue and blood circulation. Maybe worth a try?

🆘 just found out you should not take baby aspirin and pineapple at the same time (too much blood thinning!). So if like me you eat 🍍during first 5 days of TWW to aide implantation, you should avoid the baby aspirin. I am going to be so interested to hear what my new FC have to say about aspirin.

jamon glad the group went well

skipper it is OUTRAGEOUS that niether your GP nor your FC are helping you here!!!! Definitely take a photo!
A friend on another thread is about to do IVF with Serum in Greece and they have asked her to send in an AF sample so they can check all good - so AF is clearly a key factor!!!!!!!

pyjamas I remember having a complete breakdown over something in Downton Abbey when I was on Menopur in 2015...

flash!!!

Jamon · 15/08/2017 19:21

Thanks for the messages and to those who've done the doodle. Looks like everyone so far can make Saturday 14 October. More the merrier - if you'd like to join please dm me for details.

Mouse I found the group through the UK fertility network. They have groups all around the country so hopefully there will be one near you

http://fertilitynetworkuk.org/for-those-trying-to-become-parents/support/fertility-groups/

Hope you've found it better today pyjamas . One of the women last night said she found the ivf process an emotional rollercoaster - not just finding out if it's worked but the hormone side of it. It's such a massive thing to go through

The aspirin thing is a worry. Does it have any data behind it? I will definitely ask our consultant - but no longer really expecting a helpful answer Confused

Harriet I completely understand. How are you doing?

Good to see you flash that's great you've got a plan in the autumn so you know you've got something to aim for

Kwick I contacted serum and they asked me for the same thing - said something about testing for infection. Wonder why the NHS don't do this?

Caz345 · 15/08/2017 19:28

Mouse that totally makes sense, please can you post a link to the articles?
Basically short cycles are screwing up TTC and we have to deal with AF more frequently!!

I agree with Kwick, cannot believe they aren't addressing it Skipper, must be excruciating.

I'm now convinced to try aspirin again or maybe pineapple 🍍 at least, if it doesn't work out this cycle.

SmittenPears · 15/08/2017 19:53

Hi everyone, trigger warning.

Had an early miscarriage last week. My first pregnancy and first miscarriage. Sad, but picking myself up. Have been to Dr and had blood work and ultrasounds which I'll repeat later this week. Seems like it just wasn't a sticky one. Dr also thinks my "environment" looks all good for trying again, no obvious issues, so fingers crossed.

Dr has recommended we sit out one cycle before trying again, which with my long cycles is really a drag.

It was a difficult few days, but DH has been really supportive so I'm grateful for that.
Wishing you all the best for the tests, trying and waiting that you're dealing with.

Jamon · 15/08/2017 20:10

Oh smitten Sad I'm so sorry. You sound incredibly strong xx

Here's the article about early ovulation.

And here's the one about luteal phase defect
natural-fertility-info.com/luteal-phase-defect.html

Hope it helps, and if nothing more they are really informative reads.

MouseLove · 15/08/2017 20:18

Ah Smitten, so sorry to hear your news and sorry for your loss, I'm here if you need an ear. Xxx

Kathrino · 15/08/2017 21:00

I'm so sorry for your loss smitten Flowers

BloomingImpatient · 15/08/2017 21:15

Hi everyone 👋🏼

TTC 1
C: 2.5 years - 30-31ish cycle
A: 32
Tests: Ultrasound, blood x3, HSG (shit a brick) 2x cycles ago, have 2x more bloods
Him: all good apart from 3% morphology (I think it's called) but was 4% before and retesting.

But BMI is 37, I'm 5' 11 so need to lose 2.5-3stome in a few months for clomid or have to reschedule, or pay to go private.

Stress levels: 57/10 (TTC!, illness in family, moved, shit job, saving, don't drink, quit smoking a 7mknths ago, only a few a day but still no more)

All in all tests so far see nothing wrong...

It's just his sperm won't fertilise my friggin egg...

Hi everyone!

still new to mumsnet and praying for a miracle
