thoughts on dtd daily/more vs every other day during ovulation

so at 45 ive not much time to lose. i got a static on the clearblue opk yesterday.
weve been ttc for almost a year now following a pregnancy loss last summer. that pg was really achieved easily - i wasnt really trying hard at all and i think the month i conceived we only dtd 2 or 3 times that month.
we now shag like bunnies (grin) but nothing so far. This month is the first time ive used an opk. got static cd15 and before that got flashing smilies cd 13 and 14.
so we dtd cd 13. cd14. cd15 and twice cd16.
is it too much? will there be enough sperm?

Sounds like a lot of sperm to me. I don't see how you could DTD anymore really. I think you've done it lots around ovulation. All the best!

I have read that you can dtd too much and sperm quality can decline. My fertility consultant said every other day is fine.
Just got my bfp and for the first time in months we didn't dtd every day when I ovulated as DH was away. We last dtd 36-48hrs before I ovulated and it worked!!

I've heard this too boatrace but is it more so the quantity rather than the quality? I've heard a lot of conflicting theories about this. Either way this month I'm going to do it everyday around ovulation and perhaps two days after. Bloody ell I'll be knackered

We do and are did more than once a day, and I'm wondering if that helps or hinders.

3 times today!!! not abnormal for us at all but wondering if it hinders. that said i cant see being topped up on a regular basis being a problem for ttc?

We also have very high sex drives and when ttc we would dtd at least once a day (often more). I'm now 19wks pregnant and we still dtd most days.
It's an old wives tale that you can dtd too much! Regular sex leads to the production of healthy sperm.

I followed the sperm meets egg plan and concieved twice in 5 cycles.
Cycles 3 &5. 1st one ended in cp and I'm currently 6w.
For the sperm meets egg plan you just dtd everyother day (i did staright from af leaving) then start doing opks from cd10. Once you have a postive opk you dtd 3 days in a row, miss a day then once more (they say for Goodluck!? lol)
Have you tried any fertility lube? I highly recommend 'conceive plus' i used it only on the two cycles i got pg.. may just be a coincidence but that's a 100% sucess rate in my case.. it's worth a try.. goodluck xx

I think the every other day thing is only if there are known sperm count issues, otherwise every day is fine.

We did it everyday from flashing smileys. We ended up getting 6 flashing smileys.
So we did the 6 days, plus 2 days of static and then an extra day after. All in all, 9 days of dtd.

Once a day should suffice, you don't need to do it anymore unless the moment takes you.

We have a lovely 6 week old girl now. Just don't forget that with your static smiley, ovulation could still take up to 48 hours. So do it for 2/3 days after if you can.

I wouldn't worry about every other day unless there's a sperm count issue, if that's the case, your GP would probably be best to advise you.

i got flashing smileys cd 13 and 14 then static cd 15. today is cd 17 . weve dtd every day since cd 13 and before that every other day anyway.

will probably pounce on him again later.

im charting using the ovia app - i put all my data in but its adjusted my fertile window and says its over yet still gives me a score of 7.5 /10 for today so dont quite get that....

never heard of fertility lube but ill get researching! thank you.

losing the pg was difficult as i was quite far on, thank you blue at first i was scared to try again but its really now or never and i figured its worth another go.

I don't trust Ovia prediction, it always says my fertile window is much later than I know it actually is!

I suppose it's hit and miss. I still log on ovia and Flo, but I use OPKs, temp every morning and check my CM. It's like a little science experiment for me. Honestly feel like all women should be taught this in School, I'm enjoying getting to know my body more.

I think that if your partner has no issues with his sperm then it's fine to DTD as much as you like. If his count is low then every other day gives it chance to regenerate.

I conceived DD on honeymoon where we DTD twice a day and #2 was conceived when we DTD twice all month. Getting the timing right is the most important factor I think.

I'm sorry for your loss. I think the most important thing is that you're having fun, relaxed and enjoying each other. There are unsupported points that too much can decrease quality but I'm not sure. If things still aren't happening maybe try a cycle with decreased sex before your fertile week so it builds stronger sperm from your DH - it seems you might have done that this cycle.

However I think you are getting a double thumbs up from me regarding how often!! That's some great effort!! I'm jealous 😂 keeping my fingers and only my fingers crossed for you. 😜

thank you mouse ! im having the time of my life - sex before dp was a bit of an effort! its not anymore....he totally floats my boat and really 2 or 3 times a day is no hardship! but i do want to do what ever it takes to get my rainbow.
