Background. Age 36 TTC number 2 for 18 months after very easy conception and pregnancy with number 1. In that time, I was pregnant July 16 miscarriage Aug 16, pregnant sept 16 MMC Dec 16, pregnant Feb 17 miscarriage march 17, no pregnancy since. Cycles regular 30 days prior to this. After MMC I had 3 cycle where AF lasted 14 days, overall cycle length about 30 days. This has now settled but last two cycles only 27 days with positive opk on day 13. As I'm desperate to get pregnant again and a bit paranoid about my age and declining fertility I decided to add in temp checking this cycle but it seems out of sync. I'm not really sure how it should go though.
So currently CD 16. This cycle had EWCM day 13 and 14, almost positive opk on afternoon of 14 and clear positive morning of cd 15, which this morning has faded a bit again. Temp 36.1 days 8-12, 35.8 day 13, 36.1 again day 14-16. I thought dip and rise signified ovulation, but the dip was before opk turned positive or other signs of ovulation.... what should I be looking for? Thank you wise mumsnetters?

I would suggest you visit your gp for recurrent miscarriage if you haven't already.

With bbt, you can't confirm ovulation for a few days until it's all over. I never had 'dip and rise' just rise. About 3 days after ov, you should be able to see higher sustained temps than before ov. That's the only pattern you're looking for.

Very sorry about your losses...

Agree with the PP. Dips are meaningless. What you are looking for is a sustained rise which will usually happen within a few days of ovulation.

36 is not very old but a bit of advice if I may? My last viable pregnancy was at 34 and I am now 42. I miscarried two abnormal pregnancies in that time and had 2 attempts at implanting IVF embryos, which failed. If you really want another child I'd be inclined to talk to a specialist sooner rather than later. It may be that a natural pregnancy is your best bet, but you should talk to someone about your options.

I would also add that if your aren't using a proper basal body temp thermometer that is accurate to two decimal places then you should really get one as it needs to be exact.
I would recommend using fertility friend to plot your temperatures if you're not using it x

Ah good tips thanks, clearly I had no idea what I was looking for. I've been to an RMC... all normal. In a lot of ways a couple of months break from the pregnancy miscarriage cycle has been good but I'm def ready to go again and just have to believe it'll work. I have a clear plan B in mind... i.e. No pregnancy for 6 months then I'll ask for fertility checks, and a pregnancy with a forth miscarriage equals private trip to Coventry to see the team there I think..... I'll see what happens re temp in the next day or two
