Coming off cerazette

Hi, I'm new to this forum. Sorry if I've not posted this in the correct place but was just wanting some advice and read other people's experiences. I'm almost 30 years old and ready to try for my 1st baby. I came off cerazette around 15 days ago after being on it roughly 6 years and microgynon about 6 years previous to that also. I never had periods on cerazette other than little spotting every few months. Since coming off it I've not had any bleed at all. I've read lots of people saying not to TTC until after 1st period, now is this purely so that it makes it easier to date pregnancy or is there any risks involved by TTC straight away? I've been having lots of unprotected sex since coming off it and now I'm a little worried there are risks if I was to fall pregnant before a period
Thanks in advance

As far as I understand it's because it makes it easier to date the pregnancy if you've had one normal period before conceiving. But I wouldn't worry about that - these days they date them from the ultrasound scan anyway, not from your last period.

I was on cerazette before TTC DD. We started TTC immediately I stopped taking it. I bled for the first time after about 25 days. As far as I know, some people suggest waiting until after your first period as it makes dating the pregnancy easier. But I'm not aware of any other health issues, for you or the baby.

It took about 3 months for my periods to settle down after coming off, and 16 months to conceive DD. That's longer than average; there's no reason to think that was because of the Cerazette - I was having normal periods for over a year.

Thank you for your replies, this has definitely made me feel better Smile .. I know I'm being so impatient as like I say I've only been off the pill 15 days but after reading some stories of people taking 18months-2 years to conceive frightens me. Although I've read quite a few people have conceived as quick as a few days after coming off cerazette. I suppose time will tell

My story is almost identical to yours re birth control. I had one very long cycle coming off the pill. 50 days, then 23 days. I have a mmc at 10 weeks on my 3rd cycle but since my cycles have been 25-27 days long. My periods are really manageable and light. I came off birth control almost a year ago. My advice is to be patient and have this first cycle. X

I dont think there are any dangers of TTC first cycle. Dating scans at 12 weeks are somacvurate that even if your period dates are different you will often be "encouraged" to go with scan dates.

Just enjoy each other for now. Don't stress about cycles etc have at least 1 period before stressing about cycles.

Says I 🙈 Easier said than done ive had period. Surgery on my ovaries. Period last week and now I hopefully will see if I do ovulate this cycle. In my defence by having this surgery hopefully its allowed me to
Be able to conceive easier so I am keen to do it properly!

Thats all since coming off the pill.

Kjade87 · 19/07/2017 22:13

Thanks for all your replies.. I hope my get my period soon, more so that I can work out when I'm ovulating. I'm going to try my best to relax about the whole situation and just think it'll happen when it happens. I'm just not a patient person

I had a period (well, withdrawal bleed) a few days after stopping cerazette. Then didn't have another period because I got pregnant! My cycle was a bit weird as I didn't get a positive test until cd50 ish. I'd started to give up hope and was convinced the pill had messed me up. I must have ovulated really really late in the cycle as I was 2.5 weeks behind my period dates at my scan, but that was fine. They just adjusted my due date to correspond with the scan. Good luck!

Kjade87 · 20/07/2017 07:14

Ahh right, see I've not even had a withdrawal bleed. I just have an awful feeling my periods aren't going to come back.
