TTC After Nexplanon

I've just had my implant out (yesterday) after DH and I agreed to start TTC baby #3. The nurse I spoke to said I'd regain fertility immediately after removal but I'm looking for personal experiences of how long it took for your cycles to come back as usual.

I've been on the implant for six years now and I've had the usual irregular bleeding but I've never had particularly regular periods. Is it worth ordering ovulation test strips or will my body settle down into its own routine pretty soon?

TIA x

I had mine out on the Monday and was pregnant by the end of the week!

Bloody hell Redken! DD1 was an unplanned surprise and DD2 was the result of 'trying but not charted trying' so i fell pregnant pretty quickly with both. I'm hoping I'm so lucky this time around!

I am in a similar position- recently had the implant out and am ttc #1 - I was told the same thing - that fertility returns immediately after removal.

I had mine out a month ago, during my period (I had regular periods throughout though). We did drs during what I thought was my fertile time, but af arrived yesterday so I didn't catch straight away - I was thinking that maybe it will take a few months for my hormones to settle despite what the dr said? I'm hoping it doesn't take too long as I am major broody!

Let me know how it goes for you, sending you all the luck! X

That's what I'm wondering too Allthingsdann. I know fertility SHOULD return immediately but I know personal experiences differ so I wanted to manage my own expectations really. I had a very light bleed yesterday when I had it out but it's settled now although I have no idea if/when I'm ovulating next.

I was pregnant within a fortnight of mine coming out, after 7 years of implants.

DrablittleCrab · 18/07/2017 21:32

I've had two implants. Implanon for three years, removed end of May, one period about a week later, found out I was pregnant in July. After I had dd I had a nexplanon implant.
When that ran out 3 years later, implant came out in May, one period in June and found out I was pregnant in July again! Dd2 is 4 months and I've just recently had implant no3 but there are no plans for dc3!

So in my experience my fertility came back very soon after removal both times.

Thank you both!

Fingers cross ours go as well as both of yours! This will be my first proper month off, I am hoping I catch nice and quick! Just don't want to get my hopes up too soon!

ScarletSienna · 18/07/2017 22:47

The first month I had it removed I was pregnant.

This time is proving much harder.

MonaTheMoaner · 19/07/2017 12:29

scarlet I hope things speed up for you! When are you going to test next allthingsdann?

I'm not really sure Mona - I think my next fertile period is next week so I have a little wait - I'm just working off an app though so im not sure whether its entirely accurate! I have bought some cheap ovulation tests off amazon so might get those on the go to try and make the process as quick as possible! This that means I would be hoping for a no-show on AL in early August (i'm on a 22 - 24 day cycle)!

Are you all ready to rock and roll with a test?

MonaTheMoaner · 19/07/2017 12:45

Not yet allthingsdan. DH is home from a work trip tonight so we 'officially' try tonight when I pounce on him to shag him Grin

I'm going to wing it this month and if AF turns up this/next month then I'm ordering some of the cheap ovulation tests too and try to figure out my cycle again.

I plan to test regardless on Aug 14th if AF doesn't arrive. Give it a solid four weeks of shagging and trying not to symptom spot so I don't go crazy.

Hi
just wanted to add my experience so far. Got my third implant taken out on the 4th March after about 7 years on Implanon/Nexplanon. Was told I could get pregnant as of tomorrow by the gynecologist so to avoid alcohol etc. We certainly tried, even though we didn't know how long my cycle was. I tested every 3-4 weeks all BFN obviously. AF came at the beginning of July so really quite a long wait until things returned. Was told by the chemist it's quite normal if you've been on birth control for a few years that it can take a while. Good luck

Twistedsister7 · 26/07/2017 07:55

Hi. I'm ttc my first & had implant removed November 2016. I'm on cycle 10 with no BFP in sight. I feel like it took around 6 months for my cycle to be normal though. I do use OPKs so at least I know everything is working as it should. Also use an app for tracking.
