Have I had a M/C???

DH and I have been TTC no 3 since October when I had my coil removed. On Wednesday (cd 20) I started bleeding lightly but there was clots of blood, along with abdominal pain - which I still have. My friend suggested that this could be a M/C so I went to the doctors but he said it's 75% likely that it's not and that it either an early period or it could be to do with my coil Any suggestion/advice on what this could be?

sorry, none, but wanted to bump this so someone may be able to help.

smeeinit · 25/03/2007 20:37

does sound like this could be from having your coil removed, does take your body a while to get back to normal.but 5 months does seem a long time

how bad were your abdominal pains? and was the bleeding alot heavier than normal periods?

MrsMcJnr · 25/03/2007 20:41

Sorry Lovesy, no experience or advice from me but I hope you get some help soon

lovesy · 25/03/2007 20:43

They say it can take a while for your body to get back to normal but I didn't think it would take this long. The bleeding was lighter than a period. The pain pain comes and goes along with the back ache and I have now got thrush, which I never get - sorry if TMI

hmmm the back ache sounds abit like an m/c. is it dull ache? and were the clots quite large or thready? sorry to go into too much detail, you dont have to answer!!

lovesy · 25/03/2007 20:49

The clots were a deep dark red and quite big and there was a couple on wednesday and another of Thursday, since then the bleeding has been very light spotting. The back ache is a dull ache but then I have suffered with my back since having kids - like most women after having kids

does sound like it could be a m/c but im not a doctor im just going from my own experiences.

it may be that you will never know for sure but please dont be dis-heartened, keep trying and you will get number 3!
i sincerely hope you are feeling better very soon and send you loads of virtual hugs.

you say you were on cd20, what was your previous period like? if this was a miscarriage that would mean you were pregnant - i.e 6/7 weeks gone, but if you previously had a normal period this is highly unlikely. Bleeding like this wouldn't indicate a miscarriage from current cycle as it's unlikely an embrio would even have implanted at this early stage.

reality is that you will never really know, and IMO there's no point in grieving for a baby that might never even have existed.

Try to relax and things will happen when the time is right.

lovesy · 25/03/2007 20:59

Thanks smeeinit, I am trying not to get to down about things and just putting it down to one of those things and looking forward to hopefully getting a BFP soon

Previous period was normal/ish but lasted 6 days when previous months it was lasting 3/4 days. I did a preg test and it was negative so I don't think that I could have been pregnant but just wanted to see what other people thought. After falling pregnant straight away with my second child I thought it might have happened before now

Hi lovesy, what a difficult time I'm afraid I don't have any experience that can help but hope things work out for you. It's good you've been to the doctor. I guess without extensive analysis at the time its very difficult to work out what's really going on. There's a m/c thread that may be able to help

Lovesy
I had my (mirena) coil removed in October and had af 5 days after.
In Novemeber I had a quite heavy period with back ache & more painful period pains I had done a pg test and it was neg. I then had a lightish period in december then fell pg in Jan. I think it does take a while for your body to re adjust

lovesy · 25/03/2007 21:58

thanks city angel I will have a look

Whoops - it nice to hear thing worked out ok for you, after reading what people on mumsnet say about the mirena coil i think i would seriously think about the alternative contraception before having another 1 fitted. This is my second coil that I have had and had the first taken out after a year and fell pregnant the following month, this time I had had it in for 4 years so not sure what it has done to my body.

I don't thnk I will have another fitted as after 2 years I started to have hormone problems
I also unfortunatly miscarried this baby

cityangel · 25/03/2007 22:54

Big hug whoops xxx it seems hard to find a form of contraception that doesn't impact fertility despite what we get told Pill for 11 years is now a regret.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 25/03/2007 22:56

I was on the pill for a few years when I found I was pg with ds (was on pill at the time)
I have heard from someone else that they had 2 m/c shortly after having a coil removed
