How do you check your pregnancy tests?!

Just a quick question to satisfy my curiosity Grin
How do you all check your pregnancy tests?!
Do you POAS and then ignore it for 3 minutes then go back to it?
Or do you watch it the whole time to see if the line appears?

I know I know, too much time on my hands....

I poas and then I covered it with the wrapper, set a timer and went back to bed for 3 minutes. When I went back, I lifted the wrapper and boom! pregnant!

spnfan · 14/07/2017 10:57

Both. Grin

I always tell myself to just poas, leave it, and go back after the alloted time. Inevitably I leave it in the bathroom pretend to busy myself for approximately 9 seconds and go back into the bathroom to watch for a line. Grin

BabiesOnTheBrain1 · 14/07/2017 12:09

Haha! All being well (fingers crossed!) I'll be POAS myself next weekend.
Obviously I'm just planning ahead to work out what I will do Grin

I dip it in, and stare really hard in case I see s tiny line!! Haha!

kel1234 · 14/07/2017 16:52

I did it, then covered the screen (clearblue digital one), I counted for the 3 minutes, then checked it.

vroc81 · 14/07/2017 16:54

I stuck it in my pee as I was peeing and the cross appeared as I wee-ed (I was 8 weeks pregnant it turned out and late to the testing party so lots of hormones to be making crosses) so no waiting needed..

usernamessuck123 · 14/07/2017 16:56

We were so convinced I wasn't pregnant that I actually forgot to check it for about 20 minutes! it was just sat on the windowsill and I only remembered when I went in to empty the bin!

demirose87 · 14/07/2017 17:00

Every time I've had a positive the line has come up immediately and not had to wait, so I've seen it appear before my eyes.

BeanSprout79 · 14/07/2017 17:09

I dipped it in a pot, timed it for 3 mins, went out of the room and rushed back in when the timer beeped and YAY!

SelfObsessionHoney · 14/07/2017 17:11

Pee'd on it, set timer for 3 minutes, played candry crush whilst on the loo. Checked it. Immediately did the second test as I don't believe the first one could be positive.

emwithme · 14/07/2017 17:28

Dip it. Set (face down) on toilet cistern. Clean teeth (electric toothbrush with timer function). Check test.

n0ne · 14/07/2017 17:49

Stare at it. No way I could go off and come back to it!

BabiesOnTheBrain1 · 14/07/2017 20:11

Hmm so more people tend to watch it closely then!? That's not what I was expecting Smile never actually thought of doing it that way, always assumed I'd walk away and come back to it a few minutes later!

So in light of those results - have you all waited until AF was late? Or have you tested early, hence having a good look mid-wee and straight after Grin

I put them down flat, set timer for the allotted time then come back and look at the empty window that always greets me! I spend the 3 minutes preparing for the empty window. I look forward to the day that it's not an empty window and the joy I'll feel!

BabiesOnTheBrain1 · 14/07/2017 20:32

Oh Never, I'm so sorry to hear that you haven't had your BFP yet 😞 have you been waiting long for that second line?

OP posts:
Princesspinkgirl · 14/07/2017 20:36

I seem to look at them while they are working then i put down for 2 mins come back 🙈

BabiesOnTheBrain1 · 14/07/2017 20:41

Haha Princess, just to make sure you read it right?!

Never that was me! I actually quit testing after 6 months of always seeing a blank window. It was almost a year before I took another test and finally the window wasn't blank. There's definitely hope!

Writerwannabe83 · 14/07/2017 21:05

I dip it and then don't take my eyes off it Grin

This made me laugh so much. This was me 100% this morningGrin

Watto1 · 14/07/2017 21:10

Dh and I wanted to find out together. I peed on the stick, saw the line come up immediately, pretended I hadn't seen anything, let dh into the bathroom, dutifully waited for the required time and then we both found out togetherWink

BabiesOnTheBrain1 · 14/07/2017 22:15

Watto Grin love that! My fiancé and I will be finding out together too, he's took an interest in when AF is due and when's a good time to test. Always assumed I'd find out myself and then think of a way to tell him, but it's good that he's involved I guess!
Also I stupidly hadn't realised that the line can come up immediately! I assumed it would always take at least a few minutes to appear, probably why I figured I'd just leave it and come back to it. Not sure if I'd be able to do that now...

Aww thank you for all your sweet words. I got those lines once (took about 8 tests!) but had a miscarriage, it's been 13 months now!

BabiesOnTheBrain1 · 15/07/2017 16:18

Don't give up hope Never! I know it's probably far too easy for me to say, but hopefully you'll get to see those lines again :) 🤞🏻

For my first BFP I POAS (well, dunked it into a tea light holder I'd pee'd into) then got straight into the shower. I checked it when I got out.

For my second, I dunked an IC, hung about, nothing happened, so binned the test. Hours later (as I didn't believe the BFN, knowing how I feel in early pregnancy) I took it out of the bin to see a stupidly faint line. I then saved up my wee for an hour or so and dunked a FRER. Which we watched until the faint positive came up in a minute or so.
