Worried I'm not ovulating

Hi all

I came off gedarel with my last pill being taken 18 May this year. Since then I've had my withdrawal bleed and then a period which started 26 June - all looking fine so far I thought.

But I'm now on day 18 of my cycle and I've not ovulated, there's no signs of ovulation and I've been doing tests - all negative.

I've got myself in a bit of a panic and have done the worst thing by googling coming off of gedarel - apparently it takes a long time for things to go back to normal - with some saying it can take a year for your cycle to regulate.

I'm absolutely desperate for a baby and due to my husband being self employed, we've only just got into a position where we feel we can try... but I can't believe it looks like I'm going to have to wait even longer.

Does anyone have any experiences of this pill?

Don't give up yet, I didn't ovulate until day 19. I used nine testing sticks and then finally got a smiley face :) I am now stuck on the dreaded two week wait.

Thanks so much for the reply mrskitty - that's good to know. Which pill/birth control method were you on before?

My husband is trying to be supportive but I don't think he really understands. He keeps saying it's only been one month... but what he doesn't seem to get is that I've been waiting for almost a year for us to be ready to go ahead and start trying in the first place!

Feel like I have an unhealthy obsession with ovulation pee sticks at the moment too...

Don't panic. The month I got pregnant the last time I was using OPK and never got a positive. Doesn't mean you're not ovulating. You can just miss the surge with the OPK- even if you do it on the right day.

I dtd every 2 days between approx cd8 and 18 or so to try to cover bases

I was on a different pill when I TTC the first time but I had quite a few mixed up cycles. The cycle I conceived on I ovulated on cd22 though so don't worry too much yet!

Hi redorange89,

I'm saying this as a person who could probably have paid a chunk of mortgage off with the amount of money I've peed on!

It may well take some time for your cycle to regulate and you have a very good explainable reason why that might be... take that as a good sign!

In all honesty, there's no harm in you ttc from now, but I would seriously consider ditching tests for at least 3 cycles. Easier said than done, but you really really need to relax until your body gets its reproductive mojo back!

Enjoy dtd, enjoy the possibility that you could fall, enjoy the money you're spending on tests on some treats instead.

Thanks all. Really appreciate your responses.

Before I've read these I had done another couple of tests. I had what I thought was a positive last night (see pic) but tonight the test line was non existent ☹️

Sundaylunchhappy-wise words I think!! I need to try and wean myself off then I think! Two in one go is not healthy.

I came off microgynon 17 May, positive OPK 18 June last month then AF on 23 June!!

Had my positive OPK yesterday which was CD21.

Day 18 is not late to not have a positive OPK yet when you're just off birth control! I know it's frustrating but nothing to worry about.

McTufty · 14/07/2017 20:57

Also maybe buy the Internet cheapie OPKs if you're going to POAS a lot! They've work out about 20p each!

mrskitty15 · 14/07/2017 21:07

Sorry for the late reply OP, I was previously on Microgynon. With my daughter it took about three months from stopping the pill until conceiving. It varies as everyone's body reacts differently. We are now trying to conceive DC2, it is only our first month of trying so may be a while yet I think. Don't give up hope but equally don't stress about things too much as I think that just makes you feel even worse and can't be good for your body either. Good luck 😊
