Temperature Charting

Has anyone got any expertise on temperature charting?

I know you are supposed to take your temperature first thing in the morning. However I'm not really a morning person.

Does it have to be the moment I wake up or simply before I get out of bed? I usually wake up about 6.30 am and doze on and off until about 7/7.30.

If I take it as soon as I am properly awake, before I get out of bed and at roughly the same time will I get a decent enough picture of what my body is up to or is it just not worth doing?

Er.... dunno. I took mine on waking for years and it worked really well. It also meant that I knew the date of conception which saved me an induction (and taught me that the dating scan is a fallible tool...)

Why not try it and see? If you see the expected pattern developing, then you'll know it works for you to do it that way. It's a split-second job with an electric thermometer.

When I did it, years ago, it was as soon as you wake up. Before you get out of bed or move around too much.
Things like consuming alcohol the night before made a difference and mucked the graphs!

Thanks guys. That's a good point @LumelaMme, no harm in trying. I think I've been over thinking it.

Good luck with it. It takes a few months to get into it and start to understand your own pattern.

I always do on waking even if I go back to sleep again. I've. Even doing it for 6 months now and can def see a pattern. My last 3 months have been near identical
