Hello all,

I'm 26, DH 30 and we have been ttc for about 7months for our first. I have Crohn's Disease and just wondered if anyone else has experience ttc with this? I have been told by my GP it shouldn't affect anything as long as I am not flaring (fingers crossed it's relatively under control) but I can't help worrying!

Ignore anyone has any advice I would appreciate it ☺️

No advice from me I'm afraid, just wanted to give you a little bump for anyone else who might be more helpful!
Good luck TTC Smile

We were ttc while I was getting awful cramps and pains which wasn't what turned out to crohns. Got BFP then days later a crohns diagnosis so it didn't stop me conceiving even whilst it was making me ill. I won't lie I felt pretty sick during the pregnancy and it did stress me out as I'd read to expect a lower birth weight baby and possibly premature but she came at 40 weeks a very respectable weight and is now almost one and healthy. I've made sure I've done everything by the book with regards to breastfeeding and waiting the full 26 weeks to wean so I feel like I've done all I can to prevent her getting it. This is my biggest fear, that my children will have to live with it too.
But no, it didn't affect my fertility, think it took us 4 cycles. And I'm sure if yours is under control you won't be half as sick as I was because my crohns was raging when I conceived x

*was what turned out to be...

Ah thank you both for replying! Totally agree with you that one of my fears is passing it on, it's such a crap (excuse the pun) disease to live with!! My mum has it too so even though it's supposedly not hereditary it seems a bit too coincidental...

Hopefully the Crohn's won't cause a problem with conceiving then ☺️ Although one thing I'm finding is my Crohn's symptoms can be similar to pregnancy symptoms which is so annoying! Bloating etc... trying not to symptom spot too much!

I have 3 friend who have had no trouble conceiving with crohn's!! One was in her 40's! Try not to worry. Healthy active couples can take up to 2 years to conceive naturally with a large percentage in the first year. Keep positive! X
