Hey mito, I'm 38 too. I think lots of us had it happen instantly with #1 so that makes it harder. I'm on cycle 4 now, with #1 we conceived on cycle 3 but that included 1 chemical and 1 month I didn't ovulate. So cycle 3 was particularly hard this time around. I feel optimistic about this month. It's hard, try and keep your spirits up or have a moan on here, we all know how you feel.

KashyKash · 10/08/2017 13:04

Thanks everyone, I will certainly be having a few wines tonight and over the weekend as I'm going away.
Mito I'm impatient too so not coping very well with the fact we've been trying for nearly a year now. I'm 39 so feeling like time is not on my side 🙁
Anyway, will have a day of feeling sorry for myself then onwards and upwards! Good luck everyone else x x

mito79 · 10/08/2017 13:10

Thsnk you nuban and ladydolly... I agree with thr first 1 we got preganant in the first cycle.. that was 8 years ago. Unfortunately I do nit have very regular cycles it varies between 26-35. So it is particularly difficult to pinpoint the best time. I use clearblue advanced sticks and temping every single day.
And just hope it will happen.
I gave up alcohol for 2 years now to make sure I do not harm my eggs, gave up coffee which I like so much, I run 6 km 3-4 times a week, I do not eat crap food and I take all the conception vitamins... what else to do..??
So sad...

ladydolly · 10/08/2017 13:26

I think we put a lot of this on ourselves as well, I've also stopped drinking, I exercise 5 times a week, I eat unprocessed healthy foods, take all the vitamins, track my cycles on an app and with opks... My OH dtd, that's all the contribution!

I think we need to relax (and really, I mean that I need to relax) - any ideas Team August? physical and mental relaxation. Meditation maybe?

MynameisJune · 10/08/2017 13:55

Hi mito welcome.

I'm on cycle 8 or 9 when af arrives, only 32 but due to DD taking 6 years to conceive we are having tests done now.

I've stopped temping and using OPK's and I feel so much better about TTC. I know that personally doing temps/opks/charts just makes me obsess too much and it was making me miserable.

I take the vitamins, I don't drink alcohol or much caffeine and eat a healthy balanced diet. I think about all the people who get pregnant easily and by accident and I remind myself that they don't do all the right things and it happens so it will happen for us. I think one reason people get pg without trying is because they are more relaxed about it. The month I got pg with DD we had just moved house and I hadn't thought about TTC at all.

cautiousoptimist1 · 10/08/2017 14:04

I think you're right ladydolly and I can feel myself getting stressed about it even though we're only on cycle 2! I think if I don't get a BFP this month, I'm going to relax a bit - not track as much and probably step away from the forums a bit.

mito79 · 10/08/2017 14:48

I can feel the stress every morning When I Take my temp.. and I know the best to just leave it and dont think about it much but my situation is a bit more complicated........I know it sounds awful but our chases kind of halfed due to my husband wishes. He wants another boy. Last time we both wanted a boy so scientific we made a decision to only bd when the ovulation test is positive. That is what we followed ( did only once) and we had our boy.
This time is the same he does not want a girl so the scenario is the same I have to do ovulation test to know when to do loooveeee.
...and that is frankly stressing me out. Mostly because we tarvel with work and many times does not even have a chance to try...

Confused
Karpuzkiz · 10/08/2017 15:43

Big hugs kash next month is ours! xx I think I'll have to start writing everyone's names down on a post it on the phone 😂

cautiousoptimist1 · 10/08/2017 17:43

Mito, sorry if this sounds stupid but isn't the chance the same regardless of the time you dtd? Surely it's always 50/50?

KashyKash · 10/08/2017 17:56

Thanks Karpuz, I really hope so! x

Oysterbabe · 10/08/2017 17:58

The Shettles method has been proven to be nonsense so I'd just focus on giving yourself the best chance to conceive.

MynameisJune · 10/08/2017 18:02

mito what will happen if you conceive a girl?

MotherofBoy · 10/08/2017 19:29

Sorry for af kash but nice to have a cycle buddy 🤗

Welcome mito! I'm on cycle 7 now, so disheartening never thought it'd take so long. Seems to be the case for a lot of us here. I fell on cycle 2 last time.

Trying to keep positive, I do feel more relaxed about the whole thing now than I did a few months ago. Still temping etc but I don't get the anxiety pulse every time I wake up! Sometimes I think it'll never happen. But there is no reason why it shouldn't. The only thing I can think of is I have been stressed lately. Had final exam for my professional qualification in June (I just found out I passed! Woohoo!), we are trying to move house (been 5 months since we put ours on market and had offer accepted on place we buying and still no sign of exchange), I commute 1.5hr each way to work plus the pressure of ttc. And looking after a little monster toddler! It is a lot and in some ways not surprising I'm not pregnant. People keep saying it'll happen when I have moved house at last and am no longer commuting. They are probably right tho that won't be for a few more months I expect!

Big hugs ladies. I find this group so supportive, especially as we have all been through this lark at least once before. Old hats really. 😘😘

KashyKash · 10/08/2017 20:16

Thanks mother. Haha yes, glad to have a cycle buddy! Congrats on passing your professional qualification. Good to have one less thing to stress about but sounds like you have a very busy life at the moment. Amazed you find the time/energy to bd!!
I actually haven't been feeling too down today (which is unlike me on cd1). I'm sure it's because of this group and how supportive everyone is. Just tucking into wine and takeaway...healthy eating can do one tonight 😂

mito79 · 10/08/2017 20:49

I know it is a bit twisted situation.. If it would be a girl than he would be very very disappointed first but I guess he would warm to the idea. The thing is to keep him just as willing to try for no two I have to keep his faith that we are actually swinging to boy... and that is what I do.
Not fair really but dh would not even try for a second if I didn't want to... but I do!!!!!
Somehow I just try to keep him happy as well as keeping my hope for a bigger family...
Does that make sense??

mito79 · 10/08/2017 20:50

So disappointed my ovulation kit does not even show a flashing smiley at cd11... 😫😫

mito79 · 10/08/2017 20:51

Motherofboy u sound awesome!!!!!!! Such a huge energy!!! You go girl..!

Nubian9454 · 10/08/2017 21:09

Mito I'm cd 10 today and expecting positive opk by tomorrow or Saturday with sunday being my max fertile day. I want a little girl as I have a 7 year old boy but at 39 i would be happy just to fall preggers regardless of gender. I did think about following the shettles method but I feel I will have less chance conceiving. Fingers crossed for you Mito.

Well done on your qualification Mother!

SquashyMummy · 10/08/2017 21:14

Good to hear many upbeat voices this evening Grin.

I'm also finding this thread really helpful. Would it be overkill to have a little stats list of who's on here?!

I think our problem is my cycles are so long and unpredictable that we haven't hit the fertile window each month. I tried being laid back, but we're def going to need the opks to work out what's going on. I felt quite down today but feeling a bit better after a chat with DH.

Welcome mito I didn't get a positive till CD17 this month, so you're def not alone with the long cycles.

Who else is still waiting for AF? ovaries?

SydBound27 · 10/08/2017 21:36

I'm still waiting! Yes to the stats file - woman after my own heart Grin

Karpuzkiz · 10/08/2017 21:59

I need a name list 😂😂 what's the "normal" if there is such a normal date to ovulate on! Got my clear blue sticks don't know whether to start on CD7 or CD8 as cycles bit hit and miss and knowing my luck I'll run out of sticks!!

Nubian9454 · 10/08/2017 22:24

I just start using opks from the day after my period. I'm obsessive like that. Don't want to miss that surge🙈. Thats why I buy my Internet cheapies! If i didn't i would be bankrupt with all the poas I do😀. So looking forward to the day i see those two lines on a hpt. Baby dust y'all xx

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 11/08/2017 01:34

Sorry to the BFNers and AFers :( and yes to a stats list/post/spreadsheet sounds like a great idea!

I'm still waiting for AF. Now I think 6 days late so fairly sure I'm just skipping a period, no idea when I'll ovulate next month!

MynameisJune · 11/08/2017 07:58

Big hug ovaries, I'm still in the Bfn no af club too. Not sure what's going on, did you have the bhcg test?

A stat list would be good 😊

Mito, that sounds tough, we have a little girl and can't imagine not having her. Don't mind what sex the new one is just want to have another to complete our family.

Mother well done on passing your exams, way to go!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 11/08/2017 09:00

Well done mother - bet that's a weight off your mind. One less stressful thing is probably good as well.

Am getting used to using opk cheapie sticks, but not ovulated yet (think I'm CD9?). App reckons I will ovulate Monday and now in fw. So that dictates my plans for the weekend Grin

In my heart of hearts, I'd love to have another boy because I'm not super girlie and I think I would struggle with girls stuff. But I'd be happy with whichever I get, just need to get them now!
