Cannot decide if we want another baby or not.

Have 1 DD. She'll be 3 this month.

I'm a kick in the pants off of 35 and I'm feeling the pressure to decided if we have another or not.

DD was a difficult baby, screamed and screamed. Feeding issues, weaning issues, sleeping issues. I hate saying that she's made me wary of having another but remembering the way I felt during her 1st year is making the decision so difficult.

Hubby says he's happy either way. This is not helpful!

Anyone got any helpful suggestions or comments?

So the first year was not great.....what about the next two? A year isn't THAT long in the grand scheme of things.

Plus this one will be different and so will you.

Would you like another child if you could skip the first year? Is the first year worth it for you?

Try to remember that the baby phase doesn't last forever. If your DD had been fantastic would you want another child? That's not to say that if you would, your feelings are concerns are not valid.

My first was fantastic and my second was as you describe. My mum says I was a tricky baby and my sister was fantastic. Having had a difficult second I initially dismissed the idea of a third. Some days I still think it would be insanity, but I am now open to the idea, not to say that we necessarily would. I think the key for us was realising that the baby phase is short....the question really is supporting another child as they grow up and whether that is something you can envisage. That being said, I am not you and I don't know how "bad" it was the first time round. I do know that January this year was spent holding a six month old all night every night while I didn't sleep at all ever, but then it suddenly got better and we came out the other side.

Just because you are about to turn 35 doesn't mean you have to decide right now. It sounds like you need longer to think about it. I would be thinking about how I would feel with one child for the rest of my life and how that made me feel.

Thanks ladies!

I think I am feeling the pressure! Maybe I need to get that out of my head.

I look at my DD now, happy, bright, loving and I'd love to give her a wee pal.

I'm also very close to my sister and I'd love to give my DD the opportunity to have that when she's older too.

You're right. That baby phase doesn't last long (although it feels never ending at the time!)

In your last post you're saying you'd love to give your dd a sibling. What about what you want?
