Negative result?

Hi,
I'm so new to all this so not really sure how it works...
Me and my husband decided to try for a baby last month so stopped using any contraception.
I have tracked my periods and ovulation day and couldn't wait to find out whether or not we had made a baby.
We brought a clear blue test on took it on Sunday (I am due on tomorrow if my calculations are right)... It was negative... we were heartbroken.
I'm trying to just be positive and hope I don't come on tomorrow and that it was just to early for a positive result... anyone else had the same thing?
Fingers crossed x

Hi @Chloe2008 ☺️
It can take up to a year with careful 'doing everything correctly'. If you read through the board, there's lots of us who've been here a while 😉
Hopefully you got lucky!!

It's really hard not to test early on the first month TTC, but wait until af is over due to test again if you can.

Just as a warning, I'm just coming out of my first month TTC and had a weirdly long cycle. Few people I've seen have questioned whether trying actually throws your cycle off a bit.

If agf is late and you are getting bfn's keep your fingers crossed but be prepared it could go either way.

How are you tracking ovulation?

Good luck, fingers and ties crossed for you.

Chloe2008 · 26/06/2017 17:07

I'm tracking it using an app on my phone?
I have no idea what TTC or agf or bfns are :/

TTC - Trying to conceive.

AF - Aunt Flo (period)

BFN - big fat negative.

Chloe2008 · 26/06/2017 19:34

Thank you!!!

No worries. I hated not knowing all the abbreviations and used to google the meaning, was to shy to ask lol

MrsCharlieD · 26/06/2017 19:56

The app doesn't know if you're ovulating or not. For that you need to temp or do opk's.

Anything up to a year is completely normal for ttc. If you're healthy and ovulating there's no reason to think it won't happen but don't be disheartened if you haven't caught straight away. I can recommend clearblue digital ovulation sticks. I fell pregnant the first month of using them after 6 months of trying with no success.
Also if you've just come off the pill it can take a while for ovulation to kick start so doing opk's will let you know when that happens. Good luck!

Sorry about all the jargon. Thanks for translating @QuackPorridgeBacon

No problem. I happened to know from young cos my mum was obsessed with showing me her charts lol. I joined fully aware of the TTC slang.

Chloe2008 · 27/06/2017 07:05

No flo this morning.....

How are things today @Chloe2008?

MouseLove · 28/06/2017 08:51

What kind of contraception have you stopped. If it's any kind of hormonal pill you'll need to wait for your cycles to normalise to really understand how regular you are and if you're even ovulating as sometimes it can take a few cycles. Try to relax, it could happen straight away or it could take years. X

MrsChopper · 28/06/2017 08:58

It took us well over a year to conceive. Don't put yourself under pressure, it's eadly days and you may have a long road ahead! Good luck, OP.

MrsChopper · 28/06/2017 08:58

*early

Chloe2008 · 28/06/2017 13:10

Still no period today.. my partner is away until saturday now as he works in London so I think we are going to wait until then to do another test...
I just want to know either way to be honest, I know it's early days but it's all I can think about at the moment!! Confused

Chloe2008 · 28/06/2017 13:11

I came off the pill in August last year because it was making me put on lots of weight.. we have just stopped using condoms.

I really hope af stays away for you, but if she doesn't please stop testing early. It just makes it very stressful and generally an awful experience. I'm not going to tell you to relax because you won't Grin but honestly tests are much more reliable, not to mention easier to read when you're late. Also it'll save you a fortune in pregnancy tests.

Good luck and keep us posted

Chloe2008 · 28/06/2017 17:15

Thank you so much Easter Smile keep everything crossed for me, won't be testing until Saturday now x

So...... Boyfriend came home early last night so we did the test this morning. Still saying negative but no period, sore nipples, feeling tired and wanting to eat the world!!!! HELP.

OP posts:
QuackPorridgeBacon · 30/06/2017 17:07

Hopefully it's you et the result you want. Your HCG levels should double every 48-72 hours so try testing every two maybe three (if you can last) days to get a more accurate result.

Good luck.

Chloe2008 · 01/07/2017 11:23

I think I'm going to wait until Monday/ Tuesday now and maybe do another one. Surely it's just a bit strange the one month I ttc I don't come on my period?? Confused
Thinking if it's not positive by next week I should call the doctors? Anyone else done this? X

OP posts:
Vicsteur81 · 01/07/2017 11:46

Hey @Chloe2008 first month we were trying my af was super late, which was frustrating. Equally I've spoken to people for whom bfp has just taken ages to show. So it's swings and roundabouts.
I'd book to see the gp late next week if af still hasn't shown up. Fingers and toes crossed you get a bfp.

Chloe2008 · 03/07/2017 11:31

AF came yesterday, a huge six days late, absolutely gutted :(

OP posts:
Vicsteur81 · 03/07/2017 11:53

I'm sorry @Chloe2008, fingers and toes crossed that next month is your month.
You probably ovulated late, might be worth backing up the app with ovulation tests next month so you have a clearer picture.

Chloe2008 · 03/07/2017 13:04

It's so strange... people worry about 'falling' pregnant but we have been at it near enough all month and no baby :(
