Hi
Am new to this so a big hello! I am 38, I came off the pill a few months ago after a whole 20 years and after my period on 18th April I used the clear blue ov/kits and got pregnant! I got a bfp on the 25th may, 6 days previous I had a extremely light period so it was only when I went for a smear which didn't happen that I found out! Anyway 4 days ago I started bleeding but it's been very light, had a scan and literally no signs of anything that I am pregnant but clear blue saying I am still pregnant! It's my first time getting pregnant! I am sure I am not pregnant now!! Would this have been a chemical pregnancy? And if so how come it's still showing bfp lol! Has anyone else had this? Going to get bloods done and try again asap! Fingers crossed! On a plus point to all ladies over 35+ getting pregnant is possible, fingers crossed next time it sticks 🙏🏻🙏🏻Xx

Hi, sorry you're in limbo. It sounds like an early miscarriage that has cleared on it's own. Either that or it's too early to show on a scan. How many weeks would you have been when you had your scan? The blood test will show what your hcg levels are - you obviously have some hcg in your system if you're getting positive tests. They will possibly need to see what's happening to the levels over a few days/a week to see if they're increasing as they should be or not. I hope this answers your question a bit. Best of luck!

I think you have to be around six weeks pregnant for anything to show on a scan. I started bleeding and a miscarriage was confirmed a fortnight ago, but i am still getting positive pregnancy tests (I was nine weeks though). My first pregnancy also ended in a miscarriage and I got almost six weeks of positive tests then. It just takes a while for your hormone levels to go back down.

Hopefully your blood tests give you good news and it is just too early for the scan, but you are pregnant.

Don't want to worry you but if you are getting positive pregnancy tests, nothing showing on a scan and bleeding it's important to rule out ectopic pregnancy. Given your first bfp date you would be about 8 weeks pregnant so if it was a uterine pregnancy, something would show on a scan. Don't listen to anyone who says you have to be having pain in one side or shoulder pain. These are symptoms but not everyone has all of them. Please go back to you doctor or to the hospital and ask for another scan to check. If you get any pain go to the hospital straight away.
