Very strong OPK but way too late in cycle.

So confused!

My periods only came back in March as I'm breastfeeding my 2 year old. So far I've glad two cycles: first was 45 days then next was 32 days.

CD1 for this cycle was 21st May and I've not had a period since. Also not had intercourse since this period so not pregnant. My last period was reasonably heavy and lasted 6 days.

Did an OPK test today as had ovary twinges and lots of very wet mucus and just thought I'd see if there was no line as when I tested over when I thought I should be fertile, the line didn't get dark enough. I got the strongest line I've had yet. It came up almost straight away and is darker than the control line.

So is it possible I'm ovulating now, days after I was expecting my period? I know breastfeeding even at two years can upset the cycle but this seems odd.

Worried it's signifying menopause (although no other signs - I'm a worrier).

Can anyone share any similar experiences? Tia

Oh and I was very hydrated so weak urine sample!

Yes, it's just a delayed cycle. No reason why you couldn't be ovulating now.

Thank you. The last three months I've been avidly pos to try and catch the surge but no positive like this. Then on a whim I test, on CD34(?) and it's much darker than control.

It's so confusing! Maybe the breast feeding is causing very strange things...

Can OPK be positive when period is due? CM is not ovulation like at all (like water). I feel like I've no understanding of this!

Watery CM can also be fertile CM, not just the egg-white stuff.

Not to get your hopes up but OPKs can show up positive when you are pregnant - it's worth checking given it's over 30 days since your last period started

I haven't had sex since last period (due to us stopping trying whilst I applied for a new job) so assumed not pregnancy. Now I've researched-maybe I am ovulating late as cervix is very high. But also have some back cramps so maybe period?

Thanks for replying. Amongst my frantic googling, it said somewhere it can indicate menopause and in my mid 30s and wanting another child in the next year or so, I didn't want to read that!

Is it possible last period wasn't actually a period?? Might be worth doing a test just to be sure.

Only suggesting it as I had what seemed like a regular period only to find out a week later that I was actually pregnant (was at gp and was a "I don't expect this to be positive but it's on the list to check")

Hi scarlet just to say I've had this exact thing happen to me this month. I normally ovulate late anyway - cd18-20 - but I had a really stressful week at work and was ill so didn't get a positive opk. Then on Wednesday I got really strong cramps so did an opk (cd 24!) and it was the strongest positive I've ever had. I think stress might have caused the delay and then I had an extra strong surge to push the egg out. Hopefully anyway!

It was a standard ) day period with cramps and pretty textbook. Definitely no symptoms. I'll give it a few weeks and then test to be sure though.

Maybe tiredness and a little stress of applying for a job has caused a really late (CD34!) ovulation. I find it mind boggling how little I know about my own body!
