What vitamins to take?

I currently have been taking a conception multivitamin for over 2 years now but have heard of women taking other supplements. Is there anything else I should be taking or upping the dose of?

Don't take supplementary vitamins without medical advice, particularly when pregnant. You could cause more harm than good.

I wouldn't say that anyone with a balanced and varied diet needs extra vitamins anyway. More is not better. What your body doesn't use will just go down the toilet.

All you really need is folic acid.

I also take vit c with zinc, vit d, coq10, vit e. My wee is pretty expensive...

I have heard about coq10 boosting egg quality, is this true? I've had a previous mc so I was thinking of starting to take it.

'It starts with the egg' suggests it does.

I took folic acid, vit d, zinc, vit c and b12. In my last two months of TTC fbefore my BFP I added 75mg aspirin and selenium

DoubleHelix79 · 21/06/2017 07:28

I looked into this when I was TTC last year (I'm a biologist and get a nerdy kick out of looking into scientific data)

As far as I remember the evidence to support taking any vitamins (other than folic acid, that's a must) or herbal remedies is very weak. The studies that have been done tend to be small and of poor quality and often no effect is seen. My conclusion was not to waste my money.

If you're interested in a particular supplement let me know and I'll look at the available evidence.

Can baby aspirin be taken anytime throughout the cycle? I think I may start this also. I just want to give things a chance and see if it makes a difference.

I believe so rainbow. I took aspirin for two full cycles and up to about 6/7weeks into pregnancy. Supposed to aid with implantation and reduce risk of miscarriage. Is often used in fertility clinics and for other reasons such as high risk of pregnancy eclampsia in pregnancy

Just bought some today. I'm with a fertility clinic so I'll give them a go and see how I get on. Thanks for the info.
