Periods, holiday and copper coil

Background
I'm 26 with two DD's and started periods at 8 years old ShockSad
Basically I've never felt I've ever been in control of them, never tracked them always a surprise to me when I do come on as I've always been on various different contraception except from TTC.

Well this time around I've opted for the copper coil had it a year now, love it. It's been the best one for me so far as I've always reacted badly to hormone type ones only side effect I've had is heavy bleeding, very heavy bleeding actually.

I go on holiday 4 weeks today and I've had a slight bleed today SadSad so I'm assuming I'll be on really heavy whilst on holiday, so would the GP be able to prescribe a course of the pill to stop it? Will it work or is it not enough time?
I've never had that type of pill before as I've suffered with migraines for most of my life so they won't usually give me these.
I can't have a good holiday whilst bleeding it's that bad for a couple of day I'm (sorry tmi) soaking through a heavy tampon in 20 mins.

Any help please? Totally clueless female failing at the menstrual cycle Grin

I had a copper coil and figured my period was due the same day as my wedding! Went to go and they gave me two months' worth of the contraceptive pill. It made me bleed two weeks later and then I stopped and it did the trick! No bleeding wedding or honeymoon.

I don't suffer migraines and only issue was I knew of one pill that sends me into depressive tailspin. Go talk to your gp.

I had mixed feelings over my quite heavy 10 day periods while on the copper coil. Now ttc.

Thank you!

Yeah I have mixed feelings about it, it's very annoying but also the best thing I've tried so far and I've had most!

I'm 100% done TTC so need a long term, preferably lifetime one Grin

Good luck with your TTC Smile

Go to your GP and ask for norithesterone. It will delay your period long enough for you to not worry while you're on holiday, then when you get back you can discuss alternative contraception if you want to.

I was on the copper coil (now 7+1 pg) and did this every year if I was due on when I'd be on holiday.
