BFP then bleeding at 5 weeks - I can't still be pregnant?

Hi all,

I had my first BFP last week, but at about 5 weeks I started to bleed quite a bit. I went to the drs for blood tests to check whether I was still pregnant or had miscarried/had a chemical pregnancy. The results are taking ages to come back, looking like I won't know until Monday now at the earliest - which seems like a lifetime away.

I bled for 3 days and then had spotting for a further day.

There is no way I could still be pregnant, right? I just want to prepare myself mentally for the inevitable bad news...

Thanks

Hm I'd say there is definitely a chance from my experience. I spotted a lot (not heavy bleeding) and babies have been fine. My friend bled heavily constantly for the first 6 months and her daughter was fine and born at full term. There is such a thing as a subchorionic haematoma which leads to bleeding. Crazy that your results are taking a long time!!?

Couldn't you go to EPU for a scan? Our local one is referral only but in previous pregnancy you could just turn up, I think on Saturdays too.

Bendydick thanks for your response! Maybe I shouldn't give up hope then. Its definitely more than just spotting, but your friends situation gives me some hope!

I am not sure about going to EPU, the dr said it was too early to see anything on a scan?

In my heart of hearts, I don't think I am pregnant any more Sad In a way its the not knowing that is the worst part, I'd just like to feel sad for a while and then hopefully move on. But at the moment I don't know whether I am justified in feeling sad or whether I should feel hopeful.

Argh, this TTC business is stressful isn't it?

I agree the TTC business is super stressful.
I think from what BendydickCuminsnatch has said there is still hope. As for the scan, I would 100% contact EPU. I had a scan at 5.5weeks and there was a little heartbeat and everything; They will have to scan internally to see :)
Sendng you my love Flowers

Yes I went to EPU for a scan at 5 weeks too and there was a baby and heartbeat to see :) You should just be able to google and find your local EPU details.

It is a horrible time, both of my first trimesters have left me a quivering wreck of worry, I feel for you! I must admit I do think a lot of intuition, but at the same time, keep the hope! I also believe in positive thinking, ha! Fingers crossed for you :) xx

Have you got any pregnancy tests left you could do? When I started bleeding at 5.5 weeks my GP advised me to take a pregnancy test a few days later and if it was still positive she'd send me for a scan. It's super common so there's hope. Fingers crossed Smile

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I have just had it confirmed as a very early miscarriage.

Dr says ideally wait one cycle and then go ahead and try again
