Could I be pregnant?!

My DD is 5 months and I had my first period after the birth just over 5 weeks ago (although am still partially BF). I have polycystic ovaries but I got pregnant very quickly with DD and normally have a 5 week cycle.

3 weeks after the first day of my last period, I had some slight cramping and some spotting - I took this to be ovulation as I do normally ovulate at around that time (and if it wasn't ovulation, what was it?!). If it was ovulation, then I would expect my period to have come over the weekend and it hasn't (however I do have slight cramping). Probably rather stupid to admit this but did have unprotected sex around the time I might have been ovulating.

Does anyone have any views on this? At the start of my pregnancy with DD I had implantation bleeding and very bad cramps (was so sure it was period that stocked up on the Tampax) but I guess no two pregnancies are the same.

Could it just be that my cycle is a bit irregular due to the birth and polycystic ovaries???

I was thinking to wait a week for my period and if it doesn't come, to do a test but any advice appreciated!!

I heard a rumour that women are very fertile after having a baby. My NCT teacher told us that if you have unprotected sex after pg then you are VERY likely to get pg again.

If anyone knows this to be a load of rubbish then pls let me know, but I think I may have just proven this theory.

I miscarried on 19 Feb and am now pg again (I got a BFP within four weeks of starting to miscarry). We were TTC for six months prior to this.

Would it be a problem if you were pg???

I hope all goes well with you.

having the same sort of thing...though took pg test and came back +ve...to epu this morning for internal exam, and nothing there, so could be either very early stages, or m/c. So, if i was you, i would wait just a bit longer, i now have to wait 2wks for next scan, if i don't bleed earlier. Sorry that it's not that nice, but just thought i'd share my mornings experience

Skirmish

There's 5 months between my eldest btw- proof it can happen and be oK.

Thanks everyone.

Congrats on the pregnancy Spaceman!

Hope all goes well for you Skirmish.

No, wouldn't be a problem if I was pregnant but would have ideally like to have left a longer gap! For those of you with more than 1 child, were your pregnancy symptoms the same everytime?

i know the feeling orangeb...i never thought i would get pg this soon as it took a long long time with ds...my opionion is that as i hated being pg, you get it over and done with asap! and a small age gap can be nice imo

good luck with the results

OrangeBear · 19/03/2007 16:46

I ADORED being pregnant so would actually be quite happy with the pregnancy part! Just not sure I'm ready for another baby. Probably it is just my period and I'm overreacting...

i agree it would/will be bloody hard work...but it would be if there was more of an age gap too, so i don't think there is ever a 'right' time...just kinda let nature take its course

PeachyClair · 19/03/2007 16:52

Well there's 5 months between having ds1 and conceiving ds2, and then two years after before conceiving ds3-

DS2 pg easier, labour easier, and I really didnt find it harder than the bigger age gap- in fact we were already baby focused iykwim, so he jsust slotted in

You guys ...now you've made me feel it would be great to be pregnant now...and I bet I'm not!!!!!
