Conceiving whilst breastfeeding???

New to this so don't know the lingo sorry ladies!! My little one is six months old and only breastfeeds during the night and in the morning, since cutting down breastfeeding over the past few months I have had three periods, on the 15/16th of each month....I sound stupid but does this mean I am ovulating again? I would like to hopefully conceive again in the not too distant future. I don't have much knowledge on ovulating, cycles, how to work out the length of your cycle etc....any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, I have convinced myself I won't be able to conceive again after it took two years for me to have my little one and I had a miscarriage previous to that. I was told by health visitor not to use breastfeeding as a form of contraception....I was just confused as to weather the 3 periods means everything is back to normal and that I'd have a chance of conceiving now....

Yes, you definitely could. If you are having periods you are almost certainly ovulating. I got pregnant while still breastfeeding, when DC1 was 7 months old. My periods came back when he was four months, I'd only dropped a couple of feeds and I got pregnant immediately - and this was after it took ages to get DC1. So I have a 16 month gap, which I wasn't expecting at all!

Thank you DramaAlpaca! Fingers crossed then!! 16 months is a lovely age gap, my partner wants to wait a while but I'm scared that if we wait a long time then it takes another 2 years (or more or if atall) to conceive that there will be a large age gap, I know it's not the end of the world though and I feel blessed to have my daughter but I can't help but worry!
