Hi ladies, want to start ttc # 2 soon, am using an IUP (copper, no hormones) atm. Does anybody know if conception is possible right after removal or should I have it removed some time before giving it a go? Thanks...

Do you mean, should you use another form of contraception or abstain from sex for a while after IUD removal? Can't see the point of either, myself. It never occurred to me to do that when I had my coil removed prior to conceiving ds.

You're right Elasticwoman, that sounded stupid. Of course I hope to conceive after removal, and since dd came around second month of ttc, maybe I should not worry. I was just wondering if anybody removed the IUP and got pg straight away or if the tissue has to recover or whatever. Do I make sense? Am kind of confused because I want another baby but am not sure if right away (dd is one and a half) so I am filling my mind with technicalities... Definitely I do NOT want to abstain from sex!!

I believe conception is possible from the point when the coil is removed. Whether it happens in the first month is a matter of chance and probably depends on how much practice you do!

Thanks, Elasticwoman. That's what I thought, but somehow got carried away. I don't think practice will be a problem..., will post whenever it happens! (bfp, not bd of course)
