21 day progesterone test

I am due to have this test done next cycle. Slightly confused about which day to book it for. I ovulate on CD16 and have an 11 day luteal phase. My GP left a message with the receptionist asking me to book in for this so haven't spoken to her directly, the message she left said to book it for 7 days before period due however with an 11 day LP this would be only 5DPO which seems a bit early?
I wonder if she meant 7 days before period as with a standard CD14 ovulation that would also be 7DPO?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

It's meant to be done 7dpo so maybe book in for that date if you can?

That's what I thought! Thanks 🙂 7DPO next cycle falls on a Sunday typically, I wonder if it's best to have the bloods taken on the Friday 5dpo or the Monday 8dpo. Assuming I do ovulate on CD16 anyway, this month for the first time it was cd18 just to complicate things 🙄

I had the test last month and CD21 was on a Saturday so they took the bloods on CD23 and they came back inconclusive so they are being repeated this month - my cycles are always 28 days so yet again CD21 is a Saturday! I discussed this with my GP and she said to go for CD23 again.... Obviously I'm not a doctor so might be best to phone and see if you can ask? Or alternatively I'd go for 8DPO.

I'd probably ring the doctor and clarify. If the short luteal phase is part of the problem, then it's very important to get the day right.

Can you use ovulation sticks and then book an appt? That's what I did. However with my GP I am guaranteed an appointment within the week.

Ahh sorry to hear that @florafoxtrot hope next months set of results are more conclusive for you.
I've just realised I am away so 5dpo or 8dpo is irrelevant, will have to put it back to August now 😩 here's hoping I might get a bfp in the mean time!

@JoJoSM2 thanks, I don't think my LP is the problem. My partner has a medical condition that means we are having to do at home insemination rather than being able to have sex normally. GP thinks this is probably the reason we are not conceiving and is putting us forward for IUI but part of that means we both have to have the usual tests to rule anything out.

@ElspethFlashman I use OPKS and temp each month, have been consistently ovulating on CD16, think this month was a bit of an anomaly. Hope it was anyway!
